Central mall in Phuket really is first class. Spotlessly clean, every store you can think of, and if you go in the morning it’s not busy.

Back at our guest house to chill in the aircon. It's just too hot to walk around outside. I hate to say this but traveling in Thailand is starting to lose its appeal. We've done years and years of road trips but just wanting to stay at home feels OK now. It's a conversation we never have, but I sense my wife feels the same.

@bkkdude I always call. They will tell you what rooms they have available, and you can choose. Worth paying a few Baht more just for that.

@ThosMajor I recently used agoda to look for hotels and when I found one I called up the hotel directly. Hotel was slightly more expensive than Agoda so I told them I am lazy to book via Agoda and prefer direct booking, so they reduced the price to match agoda. Win win for both.

Bored with hotel booking sites... too many tricks. Now I usually book directly with the hotel. However, found a reasonable deal on Agoda for Songkran week in Bangkok. Proceeded to book, but the price suddenly jumps by almost B2k for 'other charges'. The other charges turn out to be a Grand Songkran Diner. No info, no menu, no option to remove. Closed the website and didn't look back.

Gold went off a cliff on Friday. Many buyers today confident the bottom is in. Worth a punt? It’s a pass from me. BTC already down on the day.

@bbarling Partly true. Personally, if you have Thai banking facilities, I don’t think you’ll gain much unless you want to send Baht abroad.
