@dilthi_gujarati @aegonforking @SPchittoor @PoliceChittoor I agree that it's prohibited even in Hinduism to kill and eat animals. But unfortunately animal sacrifice has somehow still become common among certain groups of Hindus in the name of religion, and a large part of the Hindu population does consume meat.

*Garuda Purana is one of the 18 Mahāpurāṇas and explicitly describes the karmic consequences of killing or eating animals, especially in its sections on Preta Kanda (the after-death journey of the soul).* 🕉️ *Garuda Purana on Killing and Eating Animals* ⚖️ *1. Consequences of Animal Killing* Garuda Purana, Preta Kanda 5.49–52 > “He who kills living beings for pleasure, or for food, or out of greed, will himself be born in forms that suffer the same pain again and again.” 📘 *The killer reincarnates in painful lower births — as the same animals he killed.* --- Garuda Purana 2.22.25–26 > “The sinner who kills animals goes to the Raurava hell, where he is torn by beasts and experiences the same suffering he inflicted on others.” 📘 *Raurava Naraka is specifically for those who cause pain to innocent creatures.* --- Garuda Purana, Chapter 10 > “Those who delight in killing animals are thrown into Andhakūpa, the dark pit, where birds and beasts tear their flesh endlessly.” 📘 Describes a vivid karmic punishment mirroring the cruelty inflicted. --- 🍖 *2. Punishment for Meat Eaters* --- Garuda Purana 2.22.34–36 > “Those who eat the flesh of animals are born again and again in the wombs of those very animals, to be killed and eaten in turn.” 📘 *Rebirth cycle continues until they learn compassion.* --- Garuda Purana, Preta Kanda 7.15–18 > “One who partakes of meat, having seen the pain of the killed, incurs sin equal to that of the killer.” 📘 Even passive participation — buying, serving, or eating meat — is sinful. --- Garuda Purana, Dharma Kanda > “The eater of flesh, the killer, the cook, the seller, and he who consents — all five are equal sharers in the sin.” 📘 Echoes Manusmriti 5.45 — complete moral accountability. 🌿 *3. Advice to Avoid Meat* --- Garuda Purana 2.22.37 > “He who desires happiness, health, and liberation should avoid meat, intoxicants, and all acts of cruelty.” 📘 *Ahimsa is declared essential for spiritual purity.* --- Garuda Purana, Dharma Kanda 15.10 > “Non-violence, truth, purity, compassion, and charity — these five lead to heaven; violence and killing lead to darkness and hell.” 📘 Clear moral law rooted in Dharma. 🔥 *4. The Path of Redemption* --- Garuda Purana 7.19–22 > “By compassion to all beings, by feeding the hungry, and by giving shelter to animals, one destroys the sins of former lives.” 📘 Shows that compassion (daya) and service to animals can purify past karma. 🧭 *Summary* 👹 *Killing Animals* = *Rebirth in painful lower forms; Raurava Naraka* (Garuda Purana 5.49–52, 2.22.25) --- 👹 *Eating Meat* = *Born again in same animal species; suffering* (Garuda Purana 2.22.34–36) --- 👹 *Supporting Slaughter* (cook/seller/buyer) = *Equal share in sin* (Garuda Purana Dharma Kanda) --- *Practicing Ahimsa* = *Attains happiness, purity, liberation* (Garuda Purana 2.22.37, 7.19)

I'm proud of the fact that my religion Jainism preaches compassion and love for the smallest of creatures, even those that we cannot see with naked eyes. We don't even cause harm to any animals in day-to-day life, let alone doing it like this at a place of worship!

Langar by Sikhs is often appreciated while public doesn't know about jains doing humanity acts.. The jain community has been giving free food to the needy and workers. Note: It is not a new thing, Jains have always been doing this, learnt from the parents grandparents..

To all Jains and Non-Jains😇🙏 This is Mahivara Janma Kalyanaka, not Mahavir Jayanti. There are 5 types of Kalyanaka for our 24 Tirthankaras Prabhu (God). The word Jayanti is not appropriate to be used for Jain God because he has attained Nirvana where he is free from the cycle of birth and death. It is sad that many Jains also do not know this difference. Please correct it.😇🙏
