Anyone driven on the left side of the road for the first time? Was it difficult? Or you get used to it pretty quickly?

@MarkMcGrathCFP This totally happened to us. Were sold seg funds in our early 20s when we didn’t know better and we had a 100% equity risk tolerance. As soon as we learned a few things getting out of our seg funds was the first thing we did. Then we fired the “advisor”.

Imagine selling balanced segregated funds to a single 47-year-old with no dependents and a 100% equity risk tolerance MER? 2.96%

@MarkMcGrathCFP @JasonWattBCC One of the first investments we were ever sold was seg funds when we had no idea what we were doing. Thankfully we got out of them as soon as we learned more

@JasonWattBCC But there are insurance advisors out there who throw all of their clients into these things because it's the only thing they can sell. If someone is pitching you a seg fund, ask them if they're able to provide alternatives. And if not, go elsewhere.

@JasonWattBCC Seg funds are incredibly complex. There are several topics that I haven't even mentioned here. I'm sure there are cases I haven't considered where they are the right tool for the job.
