Many astrophotographers always say that you absolutely need to drive out into the countryside to photograph the Milky Way somewhere rural or simply away from the city lights.
Since I’m not able to do that, I have to make the most of what is available to me. So I grabbed my equipment and simply went up onto the roof of my building.
Yesterday evening, from around 11:45 p.m. until 2:00 a.m., I managed to capture a total of 900 individual images, each with an exposure time of 8 seconds. At the end, I also took 45 dark frames.
And what can I say? It was worth it.
When you live in a Bortle 6 city, you often don’t realize what is actually possible to photograph from within the city.
This is the result: 2 hours of total exposure time, captured from the city.
Equipment used:
Canon R8
Samyang 24mm f/1.4, stopped down to f/3.2
ISO 3200
I hope you like it.
