Here is a tip that is going to save somebody a couple hundred bucks on their taxes next year. If you need to sell stocks to raise cash (e.g. for a down payment or a vacation or whatever), sell the position lots with 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵. Excess capital losses can be used to offset up to $3k of ordinary income on your taxes. So if you're in a 24% tax bracket, that's $720 off your taxes. #investing #investingtips #taxes #FinancialEducation

@LibertyCappy I prefer to stick it to the man by harvesting tax losses and immediately investing the proceeds in a similar (but not substantially identical) security.

@iam_preethi I've used this on older kids too when they're throwing a tantrum. But the tantrum usually started up again when we would go back inside.

One of the best remedies for a fussy baby is stepping outside. I have done this hundreds of times and it works almost every single time. They go from screaming to quiet and looking around within seconds. The sudden change in environment is a sensory reset for their nervous system. Their brain gets flooded with fresh input and it interrupts whatever loop they were stuck in. Your nervous system responds to environmental shifts. Temperature change, wind, natural light, new sounds, new things to look at, etc. If your baby is losing it and you have tried everything, just walk out the front door. It sounds too simple to work but it does.

I just deployed a major overhaul to the Harvest IY dashboard, and I'm super happy with it. 1. It's all action oriented now instead of just data. For example, here are lots where you can harvest losses, here is an account that needs to be reconnected, here's a wash sale risk to watch out for... 2. The UI is much better on mobile now I'll write more about this soon but here is a little screenshot teaser that doesn't do it justice.

The IRS confirmed this rule in Rev. Rul. 2008-5 if you want the primary source. #RR-2008-5" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">irs.gov/irb/2008-03_IR… Harvest IY monitors your portfolio for tax-loss harvesting opportunities and now specifically warns about IRA wash sale traps before you make a costly mistake → harvestiy.com

I realized my own household was exposed to this. Harvesting losses in taxable brokerage accounts while auto-investing in IRAs and 401(k)s. It was a wash sale waiting to happen. So I built detection for it into harvestiy.com. If a harvestable loss in your taxable account would collide with a recent IRA or 401(k) purchase of the same or substantially identical security, you get a specific warning: "harvesting these losses would trigger a permanent loss disallowance."

Most people think a wash sale just defers your tax loss. You get it back later when you sell the replacement shares. That's usually true. The exception: when the replacement shares are in a tax-advantaged account (IRA, 401k, Roth). Then the loss is permanently destroyed. Gone forever. 🧵

I just realized I seem to have broken my low-key addiction to YouTube shorts. Not sure how, but I think I credit it to: * Turning off notifications from youtube * Being generally busier with work * Offloading more of the mind-numbing stuff to Claude Code. I think the mind-numbing work was what would make me crave that dopamine from YT.

@heyitsgeorg @jackfriks I was thinking the same thing. IIt's been ridicul-awesome watching your MRR grow over the months. Or maybe years. Can't remember when I started following...anyway, rock on Jack!

@claudeai Here is what I want. Somebody please tell me if this already exists. TLDR: I want some kind of increased concurrency in my Claude Code workflow. Idea: * I point Claude Code at my GitHub issues (or Jira or Trello or whatever) * I prompt it with some guidance on how to prioritize, and I tell it to pick four (or ten or a hundred) issues. i.e. new features or bug fixes to work on. * Optional: Meta Plan mode: It makes a Meta Plan where it tells me which issues it picked and suggests a merge order for the issues (i.e. if there are any inter-issue dependencies). We can iterate on the Meta Plan, then I say "go". * It spawns N Claude Code sessions, each on a different branch, keeping in mind inter-issue dependencies (e.g. branch based on main vs branch based on another branch). * Each Claude Code session generates a Plan as usual (because I use Plan mode, but not mandatory) and we iterate on each Plan until I say "go" then it implements the Plan as usual. Basically, I think what I want is an agent that spawns multiple Claude Code sessions that can work concurrently but also with some awareness of each other so they don't create horrible merge conflicts. Also, maybe would be nice if it emails me when any of those sessions is ready for my feedback.

I agree with @tibo_maker on this. Currently Harvest IY and Safe Pull Request are both owned/operated by my consulting LLC. Will spin them off if they start generating significant revenue. What I like about Tibo's write-up here is he offers a clear, structured plan for how/when to execute the spin-off: tmaker.io/blog/how-i-han…
