Two things bother me about the narrative building around Arsenal.
First, we're told constantly that the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world. Fine. So what does it mean to be consistently fighting for the title in that environment? You can't celebrate the league's brutal competitiveness and then dismiss sustained title challenges as not good enough. Pick one.
Second, and IMO this matters more, failure in elite sport is not losing. Luis Enrique said it. Many others have said versions of it. Failure is not trying again. It's accepting the ceiling. It's going through the motions. Arteta has never done that. Every setback has been fuel for the next attempt.
The problem is social media runs on binary outcomes. Win or fail. Hero or fraud. No room for nuance. No room for the manager who rebuilt a club into genuine title contenders and is still hungry for more.
Simeone has been at Atlético for over a decade. Two league titles, two Champions League finals. Still no European Cup. Nobody serious calls that failure. They call it one of the great managerial tenures in modern football. And I'm convinced that given 14 years like Simeone, Mikel will win more leagues than him.
Arteta may or may not win the league this year. He may not lift the Champions League this year or next. But as long as he keeps pushing, keeps trying, keeps competing at this level, failure isn't what this is.
Find another name for it
By the way, if City wins the league, the achievement would of course be enormous.

Most transparent phone cases are made from a plastic called Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). Manufacturers use TPU because it’s flexible, shock-absorbing, cheap to produce, and good at protecting phones from drops. It’s a very practical material.
But TPU has a weakness: it naturally oxidizes over time.
When the case is exposed to UV light, heat, oxygen, and oils from your hands, chemical reactions slowly happen in the polymer chains. These reactions change the way the material absorbs and reflects light, which is what causes the yellow or brown tint you eventually see.
Even if you kept the case perfectly clean, it would still slowly yellow because the process happens inside the material itself.
Manufacturers do try to slow this down. Many cases include UV stabilizers and anti-oxidation additives, but these only delay the reaction; they don’t stop it completely.
Another material that stays clear longer is Polycarbonate, which is used in harder transparent cases. Polycarbonate resists yellowing better, but it has its own trade-offs: it’s more rigid, cracks easier under impact, and doesn’t absorb shocks as well as TPU.
So companies usually combine materials:
a polycarbonate back for clarity and TPU edges for drop protection. Ironically, the part that usually turns yellow first is the TPU bumper around the edges.
In other words, it’s not that engineers “can’t” make anti-yellow transparent cases. They can but those materials would either be more expensive, more brittle, or worse at protecting your phone.

We are in 2026, an era of rapid innovation but we still can't make anti-yellow soft transparent cases.

AFL stars are clearly starting to follow the overseas sports model & play dirty to get their desired move.
In Merrett & Curnow's situation it might be the only way to force the club's hand. Petracca tried & then pulled back, maybe he was told a deal can't be done.
Merrett might go harder. Not full Alexander Isak but if he misses the B&F, it's a strong move.
