I used to be on a macro desk pricing risk for a living, then my own book. Breaking down macro views into tradable expressions. But these are all proxies, you're never trading the view directly. You're trading instruments that reflect it. PMs strip the proxy away. Pure information pricing. No narratives. Just: what do you actually believe, and how much? Broke my brain in the best way possible. But the more I traded them, the more something felt off. Say I think BTC settles between 70-75k, or crude oil closes the week in the 77-82 range, or MBJ wins the Oscar, or Mercedes wins the constructors's champion, or Anthropic's IPO closes at $600B+. These are simple, common views playing out in your mind. Traders think this way too. But on every major platform today, each of those views gets shredded into dozens of yes/no contracts. Each with its own LP/OB. I'm not expressing a belief, I'm "duct taping" one together from fragments. The infra was telling me how to think instead of letting me say what I think. I get asked this a lot during pitch: who's the user? Who are you building for? Aside from the answer I've given, respectfully, the honest answer is: me. Staring at 22 binary contracts for one question about F1 GP race champion, thinking why is this the best we have. Scattered liquidity, thin payout surfaces, not a clean way to trade my beliefs. I want more! So we built @TideMarkets. One question, one liquidity pool, the full outcome distribution priced, sexier payout structure. You buy any outcome or range you believe in. The odds make sense. That's it. Binary is not going anywhere tho (🤫 we got a plan). It works for things that either happen or do not. We're building what comes after it.
