But the fight continues! While these wins are incredible, they don't represent the full scope of what our members want and deserve. Our journalists deserve to be treated with respect and to have an owner that is invested in their future.

Last week, we approved our first contract with our owners, Alden Global Capital, after 5 YEARS of tense bargaining. We won more concessions than any other Alden-owned paper group has ever gotten despite their rigid opposition to more an increase in labor costs ✊ @newsguild

The narrative that media companies can’t be profitable in 2024 and therefore layoffs are a necessity needs to die. The problem is corporate greed across the board. Where did the money go?

Alden is making obscene money; we want fair wages to fight inflation, recognize our efforts to provide watchdog journalism and bring fairness to the gender, ethnic and racial disparities in pay. Alden needs to stop being stupid. Don't cut healthcare. Protect seniority.
