Love spotlighting schools that get it right! 🙌 Extraordinary proof of concept at Nystrom Elementary, CA. When principals & coaches drive strong, evidence-based literacy and language implementation, kids win. The secret? Continuous improvement! #BigSkyLiteracySummit

@CreditFlex This is not bureaucrat money. It pays for the essentials of the grant research and goes into the total budget. Without it, research cannot and will not happen.

@tiffanyphogan 65-70% indirect is not high? Can’t taxpayers hope to see more going to real research, and less going to bureaucrats? Also, are schools of education getting taxpayer money? Because, the research from there is… (I don’t claim to know the answers to these.)

These cuts will devastate the work I & so many others do for our most vulnerable children with disabilities. On a personal note, I was saved from aggressive breast cancer bc of the work #NIH funded. This will not make America great. This will devastate us ALL to the core.
F. Perry Wilson, MD MSCE@fperrywilson

NIH has announced a cut in the "indirect rate" to 15% across the board, in a move that appears to be retroactive to even existing grants. This is a bloodbath for research institutions throughout the country. Brief explainer for those not in this world: buff.ly/3EtML7D

If you care about the science of reading, please take the time to learn about the cuts to NIH. NIH has funded much of the research on reading and it's heartbreaking to think of the work grinding to a halt... right at the time when public interest in its findings is so high.
