Former CHL and USports player Jacob Winterton has passed away at the age of 25 after a battle with cancer, the OHL announces. Winterton played for both the Flint Firebirds and Oshawa Generals before joining the University of Guelph Gryphons.
He is the brother of Seattle Kraken forward Ryan Winterton.

This morning, active duty Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Engineer Colton Tibbetts passed away.
He was a beloved son, brother, friend, and a dedicated firefighter who served our community with pride.
Colton followed in his father Brian’s footsteps when he joined JFRD three years ago. In November, he was promoted to Engineer at just 22 years old, a reflection of his commitment, work ethic, and the firefighter he was becoming.
We ask that you keep the Tibbetts family, his crew, and all members of JFRD in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Remembering the legendary English filmmaker, David Lean, on his 118th birthday!
David Lean on the timelessness of "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962) & the reaction it got from the audience when the restored version was released in 1989:
"Everyone worried about re-releasing ‘Lawrence of Arabia.’ (1962) They said the audiences have changed. They talk and shout at the screen; they’re impatient; they wouldn’t sit still for it. Not at all. You could hear a pin drop. London, New York, Washington, Los Angeles. Everywhere.
It was a subtle piece of work, depicting Lawrence and his character. It’s less than 1% of the film in terms of footage, but it’s the cumulative effect of nuances, and if you dig out too many you’ve lost a whole hunk of his character.
I think audiences had almost forgotten the power of pictures. They’ve gotten smaller and smaller. And suddenly you see this old film, wonderfully photographed; tremendous detail; you almost feel you could take a hair off the actor’s collar. There’s a mesmeric effect from the picture on the screen."

Jony Ive recounts the time Steve Jobs called him vain
Jony recounts the time he asked Steve Jobs to be less harsh in his critique of a piece of work.
When Steve asked “why?”, Jony replied: “Well, because I care about the team.”
Steve then said, as Jony puts it, “this brutally, brilliantly, insightful thing”:
“No Jony, you’re just really vain. You just want people to like you. And I’m surprised at you because I thought you really held the work up as the most important—not how you believe you are perceived by other people.”
Jony reflects on the remark:
“I was terribly cross because I knew he was right.”
