A 19-year-old incarcerated man died early Sunday morning at Elmwood Correctional Complex following a medical emergency. As part of the ongoing investigation into the assault that occurred at Santana Row, arrest warrants were obtained for three suspects believed to be responsible for the attack. All three individuals surrendered to law enforcement today without incident. This remains an active case, and we will continue working closely with District Attorney Rosen’s Office as the case moves forward through the criminal justice process. The District Attorney’s Office will be providing additional details soon. We recognize the community’s concern about this incident and appreciate the patience shown as investigators worked methodically to ensure the case was handled thoroughly and correctly. Those responsible for this violent crime will be held accountable.

Units are currently in the 700 block of Santa Clara St. for a report of a person shot. Two adult male victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. This investigation is active and ongoing. Santa Clara St. from S. 14th St. to S. 16th St. will be closed off for a significant amount of time. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. A press release will be forthcoming. Two Suspects Arrested in Vienna Drive Homicide Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers responded to a shooting on Jan. 7, 2026, at about 9:39 p.m. in the 1200 block of Vienna Drive, where they located an adult female inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was later identified as Kembery Chirinos-Flores, 24, of Mountain View. On March 5, 2026, Sunnyvale DPS detectives arrested Alfonso Inestroza (also known as Franquin Inestroza-Martinez) of Hollister and Gerzon Chirinos (also known as Gerzon Chirinos-Munguia) of Sunnyvale in connection with the homicide. A shotgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on murder charges. Inestroza also had an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated murder case in New Jersey. Kembery is survived by her 5-year-old son. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing. Last night, two proactive Officers conducted a vehicle enforcement stop in the downtown San Jose area. During the stop, they observed open containers of alcohol, tobacco, and THC products with all occupants being under the age of 21 years old. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a concealed firearm, later determined to be stolen. The driver was booked into jail for numerous crimes. Yesterday, SJPD Patrol Officers responded to a report of mail theft that was actively occurring in an apartment complex in the city of San Jose. The adult male suspect was observed by private security via surveillance cameras breaking into the mailboxes in the apartment mail room. The suspect then entered the complex parking garage where he subsequently broke into a vehicle. Officers immediately arrived on scene and located the suspect in the garage, hiding behind the vehicle he just broke into. During a search of the suspect, Officers seized stolen mail, a crowbar, and other evidence of the crime from his backpack. The suspect was booked into jail for multiple crimes including burglary and mail theft. Great work Foothill Division Patrol Officers for your quick response and apprehension!

Units are currently in the 1500 block of S. Winchester Blvd. investigating a shooting. One male victim was transported to a local hospital with at least one gunshot wound. S. Series of Residential Burglaries Reported Across City; Suspects at Large On January 30, 2026, at approximately 7:06 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Manitoba Drive following a report of a residential burglary in progress. The suspects fled prior to officers’ arrival. While officers were still investigating that incident, a second in-progress burglary was reported in the 900 block of Bainbridge Court. Once again, the suspects had fled before officers arrived. Later that evening, officers responded to a third residential burglary in the 900 block of Chelan Drive. All three burglaries shared similar characteristics, with entry made through rear sliding glass doors. In each case, jewelry was reported stolen. The suspects—described as three individuals wearing hoodies, face masks, and gloves—are believed to be associated with a small, dark-colored SUV. Neighboring agencies have also reported similar burglary activity. Anyone with information related to these incidents is encouraged to contact the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at 408-730-7180.

#SanJose: 3rd Alarm Fire - Kato Business Square At Approximately 4:55 PM San Jose Fire Responded to the Kato Business Center on the Corner of Saratoga Ave and Lawrence Expressway for reports of a working fire. This fire was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm and ultimately a 3rd alarm.
