Swift Police Response Saves Life After Overdose Incident On April 1st at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted suicide in the 700 block of Noramda Drive, where an individual had intentionally ingested narcotics. While en route, Dispatch updated responding units that the individual was unconscious and not breathing. Upon arrival, officers immediately began CPR. After two cycles, the individual regained consciousness and began breathing on their own. The person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further care. Follow-up with medical staff confirmed the patient was alive and conscious, with one provider noting it was a “great save.” Thank you to all public safety professionals whose quick actions made a life-saving difference.

K9 Axel Locates Discarded Firearm After Suspect Flees Police On March 28, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a neighboring police agency requested assistance in locating a suspect who had fled from officers while reportedly armed. Although the suspect was located, officers believed the firearm had been discarded in the area but were unable to find it. PSO Plonka and K9 Axel responded to assist with an article search. After an extensive search of the neighborhood, K9 Axel successfully located the discarded firearm concealed inside a tire behind a dumpster enclosure. Our police K9 teams are an invaluable resource, helping to make Sunnyvale and Santa Clara county a safer place for everyone.

Coordinated Response Leads to Arrest and Safe Rescue On March 15, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Stonylake Court for a report of an assault. Officers learned the suspect had assaulted the reporting party’s brother and had an outstanding warrant out of San Jose. When officers arrived, the suspect fled back inside the residence and a perimeter was established. A short time later, the victim exited the home with a head injury and reported he had been struck with a skillet. He was transported to Valley Medical Center for treatment. The victim also reported his brother remained inside the home and was unable to leave on his own, and that the suspect had threatened to kill them both. Additional resources, including a K9 unit, drone, and crisis negotiation team, responded. When officers entered the residence to rescue the brother, the suspect confronted them and a police service dog was deployed, leading to the suspect’s arrest. The brother was located inside unharmed. The incident was safely resolved through coordinated planning and collaboration between patrol, specialized units, and dispatch.

FLOCK Alert Helps Officers Quickly Locate Missing Elderly Driver Yesterday, officers received a FLOCK Safety camera alert for a vehicle associated with a reported missing person that had entered the city. Officers quickly responded to the area and located the vehicle within approximately 10 minutes of the alert. The driver, an elderly individual, was found to be lost and confused. Officers ensured the driver’s safety and coordinated with family members, ultimately reuniting them and helping facilitate a safe return home. This incident highlights the value of FLOCK technology and the collaborative response between officers and the community, enabling a rapid location and safe resolution for a vulnerable missing person.

Two Suspects Arrested in Vienna Drive Homicide Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers responded to a shooting on Jan. 7, 2026, at about 9:39 p.m. in the 1200 block of Vienna Drive, where they located an adult female inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was later identified as Kembery Chirinos-Flores, 24, of Mountain View. On March 5, 2026, Sunnyvale DPS detectives arrested Alfonso Inestroza (also known as Franquin Inestroza-Martinez) of Hollister and Gerzon Chirinos (also known as Gerzon Chirinos-Munguia) of Sunnyvale in connection with the homicide. A shotgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on murder charges. Inestroza also had an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated murder case in New Jersey. Kembery is survived by her 5-year-old son. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing. FLOCK Cameras Lead Officers to Stolen Vehicle Arrest On March 9 at approximately 3:30 pm, Sunnyvale officers received a FLOCK Safety Camera alert identifying a stolen vehicle in the area of El Camino Real and Bernardo Avenue. The alert provided critical, real-time information that allowed officers to quickly respond and begin searching the surrounding area. Officers soon located the vehicle parked at the Chevron gas station in the 1000 block of W. El Camino Real while the driver and sole occupant was refueling. Using information provided by the FLOCK camera system, officers were able to safely coordinate an enforcement stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. A records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant for 10851(a) CVC. The suspect was arrested for the warrant and for possession of a stolen vehicle in violation of 496d(a) PC. This arrest highlights the critical role FLOCK Safety Cameras play in modern policing, providing real-time alerts that help officers quickly locate stolen vehicles, apprehend suspects, and enhance public safety in the community.

Violent Robbery Leaves Victim Hospitalized On February 28 around 2:45 am, Officers responded to a report of two male suspects assaulting another male in the 100 block of South Murphy Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the ground suffering from facial injuries and in a semi-conscious state. Witnesses described the suspects as Hispanic males wearing dark clothing who fled the scene on foot. Preliminary investigation determined the suspects took cash from the victim during the attack. The victim was transported to Stanford Hospital where he remains admitted to the trauma unit. Due to his condition, the victim has not yet been able to provide a statement. On March 3rd, 1987 at about 1:45 a.m. Manny was responding to a burglar alarm when he got into a traffic accident on Mary Avenue near Evelyn Avenue. He was 29 years old, an 8 year veteran of our Department, and left behind a wife and many family and friends who love him dearly. FLOCK Safety Alert Leads to Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Arrest of Wanted Felon Early this morning, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers were alerted by the FLOCK Safety camera system to a stolen vehicle entering the area of El Camino Real and Henderson Avenue. The real-time notification allowed officers to quickly locate the vehicle as it traveled northbound on Fair Oaks Avenue near Olive Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was safely taken into custody. Further investigation revealed the driver was on multiple grants of probation and had multiple outstanding felony warrants. This arrest highlights the critical role FLOCK technology plays in providing timely information, enhancing officer safety, and helping remove repeat offenders from our community.

“Multi-Agency Effort Leads to Arrest of Armed Felony Assault Suspect Using FLOCK Camera Alert” On 2/16/26, patrol officers responded to a felony assault in the 100 block of South Bernardo Avenue. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival after assaulting one victim and pointing a firearm at a second individual. On 2/17/26, officers received an alert from the FLOCK Safety Camera System indicating the suspect vehicle was detected in downtown Los Gatos. With the assistance of the Los Gatos Police Department and the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team, officers located and safely arrested the violent suspect nearby. Sunnyvale officers subsequently served a search warrant and recovered a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine, along with additional loaded magazines. The suspect was booked on multiple felony charges. This case underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration and demonstrates the effectiveness of the FLOCK safety camera system, which officers rely on daily to locate and apprehend violent offenders in the ongoing effort to keep Sunnyvale safe for the community. @Flock_Safety

Armed Suicidal Subject Safely Taken Into Custody After Gas Station Incident On 2/9/2026 at approximately 2:18 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue regarding a report of a male subject shouting at pedestrians and demanding money while armed with a 12-inch knife. Upon officers’ arrival, the subject fled into a gas station and continued to brandish the knife and repeatedly stated that he wanted to die and wanted officers to kill him. The subject then ran into a rear office area of the gas station, where he stabbed himself in the neck area with the knife. He later emerged with the knife lodged in his neck and surrendered to officers without further incident. The subject was immediately provided medical treatment and subsequently placed on a 72-hour mental health hold, as he was determined to be a danger to himself and others. The subject is a known transient with a criminal history that includes narcotics-related offenses and violent crimes.
