@pengraiggoch Good youve got Goshawks on your patch. We could do with more across Wales.

@TimBirchWild Yes. There may not be enough food for Rooks round here in the uplands anyway. Goshawks are not rare here in Wales, north of the Black Moutain. I am always slightly annoyed to be constantly corrected by bird people on Goshawks. Where they occur they are the dominant bird!

There's nothing quite like a noisy rookery on a sunny day in early Spring in West Wales. The rooks are busy refurbishing their nests and squabbling with their neighbours. Shocking though that they're RedListed in Wales. We shouldn't take them for granted.

@pengraiggoch Godhawks are key species missing from large areas of Wales and UK where they used to be. They definitely prey on corvids and other medium size birds - thats the role they fill in a healthy ecosystem. But wider landscape use change appears to be key factor in decline of rooks.

Every bomb dropped on an oil facility is a time bomb for the planet. It accelerates global warming. It destroys biodiversity. It poisons the air for humans who had nothing to do with the conflict. To the perpetrators:You are disgraceful. There is no 'winning when the planet loses

Please remember that birds are nesting so do not just go and cut back hedging. With nature so under pressure, every new chick counts 💚 Let's help nature.

@Badgeraz Im totally with you there. Im a massive rook fan. Their rookeries are absolutely fascinating places to watch their behaviour. I watched one rook today steal a twig from another nest and chaos followed!

@TimBirchWild Used to live right next to a rookery and I found watching their comings and goings, chattering and pottering about endlessly fascinating and the sound of them strangely reassuring ...they were excellent neighbours and so attentive to their young.

@charmgluon No not at all. I watch from the road and theyve been roosting there for years.

@TimBirchWild Are you disturbing them by being there? They roost at places they feel safe.

Absolutely love our local Jackdaw roost in West Wales which is still going strong. Their chattering calls are something else. Just an amazing spectacle every evening. This is bioabundance for you!

@Nathanbotom I would really love to know. I haven't seen any research on communication within corvid roosts. Would really like to know more.

@TimBirchWild What meaning do their chattering calls bear. Is it a complex system of inter- communication. Surely they mean something!

Expanding this car park in @peakdistrict at Dennis Knoll, in area with narrow roads, is not the answer to persuade car owners to stop parking on verges. Why not keep to original smaller car park plus enforcement on verge parking ? We need to encourage less cars in National Parks!
