So proud to share our work published in CDC MMWR showing that vaccination of underserved communities in LA helped reduce disparities in COVID-19 incidence by community income. Thanks @JohnMastersonMD and @mluu921 for all your effort on this project! cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…

Congrats to super @CedarsSinai urology resident @JohnMastersonMD for winning best poster for our work showing racial disparities in the way life expectancy is valued in prostate cancer decision making. So glad to have him present three posters from our lab at AUA 2023!

Delighted my fellow Nadine Friedrich @nadinefrisa18 won best poster for our work on variation in content discussed by specialty in multidisciplinary prostate cancer consults. We found urologists spend significantly less time on shared decision making than other specialties.

Super work by @Antavakolian and @Avenkat24 comparing cost effectiveness of treatments for prostate CA across a spectrum of life expectancies. Shows how costly AS is over time for young, healthy men. AS protocols should be risk adjusted to reduce cost!buff.ly/3Yvl5UL

How do we actually communicate risks of cancer and other cause death in prostate cancer consults? Turns out we fail to quantify cancer mortality, life expectancy, and survival benefit with treatment in 34% , 31%, and 71% of consults! buff.ly/3wrRhMJ

Top med and law schools have withdrawn from USNWR rankings in part due to methodologic concerns. Hospital rankings have potential to improve quality of care but only if they alter their methods to capture meaningful metrics. See our article in JAMA surgery buff.ly/3WCvKwd

Working at the #2 hospital and #3 urology program in the country is great but, trolling for specialist votes for USNWR rankings is beneath the house of medicine! Our editorial examines flawed specialist voting and suggests using measures of process of care.buff.ly/3WCvKwd

With high rates of burnout, Urologist is the most stressful job out there! We should definitely figure out why and seek out solutions. buff.ly/3BMoky2
