@jmpey99 @mrmarksteel Ours are all part time. Maybe caught by the "lifetime allowance" pension trap?

My local doctors' surgery has a fun system for booking appointments. You have to call at exactly 8am and hope you get through. Almost certainly you won't, then by 8.05 all appointments have gone. It's exciting, like trying to buy a ticket to see One Direction.

Great organisation. Proper humanitarians and professional, honorable people. Not so with all charities sadly. Please take a look at how @React_Response works (re-act.org.uk) and make a donation today. #WorldhumanitarianDay2022 #WorldHumanitarianDay
RE:ACT Disaster Response@React_Response

Its #WorldHumanitarianDay & this year's theme centres around the idea that #ItTakesAVillage and that could not be more true🙌 RE:ACT could not support so many people in crisis both in the 🇬🇧+🌎 without our village of volunteers, trustees, donors, supporters & HQ staff 🦸🏽‍♂️🦸🏾

@LucyGoBag I don't think it is a Health Service issue, more of a Public Service issue. Government, particularly of late, has built the inspection system so that officers have to mask the impact on services of underfunding. If they do not they risk special measures or career progress blocks.

I have not worked out how to do this but one of biggest fixes we need in our health service is to tackle the endemic defensiveness. SOMEHOW. I see it at every level - as patient, as daughter, as mother, as colleague, as external consultant, at inquest. Read this and weep
GeorgeJulian@GeorgeJulian

[Here we go. So much defensiveness. I actually can't face commenting on some of it, I dont think I've ever seen such denial, and that's saying something. For anyone on a screen reader hopefully you can read the text in the following images here aschealthcare.co.uk/wp-content/upl…] 365/

@TurkishAirlines poor first experience. First a leg of our trip was cancelled at a few weeks notice meaning 10 hr layover in Istanbul. You lost a bag of dive gear at the start of the holiday. Delayed on our return, both legs, now 90 mins to collect bags.

@LucyGoBag Simple fact is that train companies don't train enough drivers. Profit is king and the franchise system does nothing to address this. Ridiculous system.

I like my train drivers like my plane drivers - alert, rested, minimal worries, able to pay their bills and with a manageable shift pattern. We find they kill less people like that 🚆 ✈️

@MissGAtkinson If its too hot for you to walk barefoot it's too hot for your pet too. Play with them in some water (a bowl or bucket) and go for a walk at dusk.

#Heatwave 2022 may be here, but remember the water is still cold enough to cause cold water shock. If you get into trouble in the water, lean back and use your arms and legs to help you #FloatToLive.

@phelecPaul @TobyonTV Does "time in office" have an effect on his pension? Somehow I suspect the "CARE" means of calculating Public sector pensions doesn't apply to MP's. Happy to be corrected btw.

@TobyonTV What exactly is the point of Johnson staying on until September? Is it just to extend the apparent time he served before getting booted out?

@JohnnyMercerUK I admire your dedication to a great cause. I disagree on one point: if you wait until you (judge) you are "good enough" you may realise you were actually just what was required some time ago.

Morning. Of course I’m not standing to be the next Prime Minister - I’m not good enough. I will in due course endorse a candidate. For now I am ensuring none of them resile from our current commitments on veterans. More later in the week.

Delighted to be the UK’s first Cabinet Minister for Veteran’s Affairs, which together with the Office for Veterans Affairs, finally aligns us with our international allies in how veterans are represented across Government. Promises to our Veterans are important, and will be kept

MPs should be made to live on the minimum wage. Attitudes would change quickly then.

@CIJohnOwen @StaffsPolice Well done to you and your team John. Appalling behaviour such as that described is that of someone with little regard for decency or rules who blight our communities. Tackling them is exactly what is required.

@MartinSLewis @andrewellson It begs the question: "Regulator of what, for whom?" Isn't the regulators job to ensure fair competition for the benefit of the people? It seems like it is "some (limited/regulated) competition for the benefit of the suppliers shareholders. I thought shareholders bore risk? No.

I think the best summary of why my frustration boiled over yesterday is the Ofgem quote pictured from @andrewellson's piece in The Times today. If a catastrophic cost of living crisis that risks lives isn't the time for the regulator to prioritise lowering prices, when is?
