@CapturingChrist I’m just thinking that it’d be kind of weird them carrying on about Mary, like modern Catholics do, with her still around. Probably why they didn’t….women be quiet…be in submission to your husband...oh hi Mary.😳

In short, early Church gatherings were intimately Catholic. Gavin quotes Justin Martyr in his video saying the following: “For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh.” This is simply not compatible with Baptist theology.
Gavin Ortlund@gavinortlund

What would it have been like to attend a worship gathering in 150 AD? New video out today, recounting Justin Martyr's description and drawing implications. I am also going to make this one into a shorter animated video, Lord willing (will be a few months).

@davidwbalch @KeithNester1 @DrownNatha62605 Because faith is the ONLY “thing” the has the power of causation in how a sinner is justified. Nothing else has the ability to reconcile a sinner with God and STILL be a complete work BY GOD. He justifies the sinner by and through faith.

@TimKegley @KeithNester1 @DrownNatha62605 Paul literally said the only thing that count is faith working through love. That’s not faith alone. That’s faith +. Why Protestants keep trying to separate faith from Hope and love is beyond me.

@yeayea1818 @KeithNester1 @DrownNatha62605 Uh oh…he used the word that makes the world stop spinning. If a thing is “apart” from another thing then it is ALONE. Where is the word incarnation in the bible?….the trinity…and plenty more? The word does not have to be there for the concept to be.

@RyanRozbiani The freedom of religion idea can be defined as a reaction to the Old World paradigm where there wasn’t enough room in the castles for Catholics and Protestants…not Catholics, Protestants and Muslims or Hindus or whatever…hence this nation was founded on Christian presupps.

JUST IN 🇺🇸: White House claims the U.S is "A nation founded 250 years ago almost on Judeo-Christian values." This is a LIE The U.S. Constitution does NOT establish any religion and explicitly protects religious freedom. The Founders created a system with separation of church and state, not a religious government.

A 6hr debate summarized in 3 minutes for ya. You’re welcome 🫶🏻 lol But seriously, this is what it all boiled down to. Hypocrisy. In every sense of the word. She doesn’t practice what she preaches, and what she preaches is something she knows will never actually happen as policy. Yet she and her husband Andrew Wilson grift off of calling everyone that actually DOES something tangible for the movement, or simply believe women should vote, a “feminist” or a “simp”. They’re both hypocrites. They both sell “debate lessons” to people online yet can’t have a debate without interrupting, purposely, lol They wouldn’t last 5 minutes in a formal, regulated discussion where their mics cut off their maniacal screaming 😂 They’re both toxic for the relations between men and women, which I find the most egregious of the offenses, because it weakens our society. And I’ll happily call it out to their faces, anywhere, anytime 💅😉😘 #whatever

I'm actively looking for a Protestant that is willing to debate a Catholic on Eucharistic Miracles. The Catholic is Ethan Muse. Tag a Protestant in the comments. (No need to tag @javierperd2604--he's not willing to do it.)

Allie, stop bashing our Holy Father, @Pontifex for calling for peace. I’ll wait for you to mention the innocent women and children in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran who have been killed at the hands of the genocidal state of Israel. You won’t because you’re only pro-life when it doesn’t expose your heretical theology.
Allie Beth Stuckey@conservmillen

Pope Leo: “[Jesus] does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.” There is absolutely no biblical basis for this whatsoever. Christians should strive for peace, yes. We don’t revel in death and destruction. And a Christian could make a sound argument against the particulars of many wars throughout history, including the war with Iran today. A Christian could also agree that God shouldn’t be used to justify unjust wars. But to say that God is against war per se is flat out false. All throughout the Old Testament God calls for war in defense of His people. Exodus 15:3 declares, “The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is His name.” David constantly prayed to the Lord while battling his enemies. He says his cries to the Lord “reached His ears” and God answered him. God didn’t just answer David by hiding him away but by giving him lethal strength: “He trains my hands for war” (Psalm 18:6, 34). If you discount these examples because they’re in the Old Testament, you don’t understand Scripture or God. Jesus is God; therefore everything God has ever done Jesus has fully agreed with and participated in, and He does not change (Hebrews 13:8). Mind you also that Jesus Himself promises to come back as a warrior to wage war against evildoers. There are categories of people whose prayers God does not answer: the self-righteous, those who pray with selfish motives. People who wage war are not automatically in one of these categories. I’m so glad our founders did not believe this way. I love this retelling of the story of the pacifist Quaker who allegedly heard Washington praying in the woods at Valley Forge: “He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was His crisis, and the cause of the country, of humanity, and of the world.” Sometimes force is necessary to defeat evil and advance good. When it comes to these matters, Pope Leo has repeatedly proven that he is not wise.

@Frances_Coppola @rob24957485 I’m don’t judge the pope because of his funny hat or the dress he wears…I judge him because of what he says, the belief system he upholds and like I said…the luxury of being Protestant. John 7:24

@Liz_Wheeler A pastor definitely can’t change doctrine on a whim. That’s not something that happens. But, if my pastor said what the pope said today, we’d almost certainly be switching to another local church!

When the Pope makes questionable comments, it makes me GRATEFUL to be Catholic. Because the Pope has no authority to unilaterally change Catholic dogma with his pastoral comments. The Pope speaks in two ways, pastorally and rarely, infallibly (called ex Cathedra, which requires a certain set of specific circumstances as the Pope acknowledges, not invents, a doctrinal interpretation). The latter almost never happens. That’s important— His comments today are in his pastoral capacity. He wasn’t speaking ex Cathedra. Catholics aren’t required to agree with his opinions. It’s annoying for sure, I wish the Pope was a wiser leader on matters of politics. But I’m SO grateful to be Catholic because imagine he were the leader of a Prot church—he could change doctrine based on his own faulty opinions at a whim. That’s not the case with Catholicism. Grateful to God for His Church that remains as it always was and always will be despite the turmoil of the world and the sins of man. 🙏🏼

@hell_line0 Exactly. People pick and choose what counts as “natural” when it suits them. We rely on medicine for all kinds of things, so acting like this one issue is different just doesn’t add up.

@Rach4Patriarchy I’ve heard several times, for years…way before the Wilsons, that conservatism was another word for classical liberalism. Meaning…liberalism BEFORE modern liberals messed up the word liberal and BEFORE libertarianism was popularly coined.

Part of the reason Allie Stuckey feels strongly about this is she had a hoe phase in college. Hard not to connect that to her attempts to woke scold Christian men on social media over this.
Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey@RelatablewABS

The backlash to @TrevorSheatz’s viral X post has been HUGE. Some people responded saying, "I can't believe you just called your wife a wh*re." He did not call his wife that. You called his wife that. You called another man's wife that. You called a new creation— someone redeemed by Christ, sanctified, made new, and washed clean— a wh*re. That is on you. Not her husband. The hyper patriarchy bros who call themselves Christians out there who just want to take any opportunity not only to denigrate women, but to denigrate the work of the Gospel… it's just insane. It's a very obvious tenet of Christianity that you have become a new creation. Somehow that’s now being treated like it’s controversial?
