Took a break from the trolls and the dysfunctional landlord To see how it felt I missed the good conversations - and enjoyed my days more without the misinformation and amorphous rage Off to find a better party. Hope to see good friends there

Ozempic, and other GLP1 meds, have been unleashed on the market in a contentious moment: Health at Every Size has gained traction, with acolytes saying obesity is not a disease in need of treatment, nor should weight loss be medically prescribed. 1/5🧵 vox.com/science-and-he…

We will never find a better balance between legit corporate profit & public health if we can’t grow our civic conversation beyond the false dichotomy of capitalism vs socialism nytimes.com/2023/01/28/bus…

We’ve all wondered why scientists or MDs “turn”. How respected folk can find themselves deep in the anti-vax community. It’s a decidedly simple (but dangerous and malicious) process. Below is a thread on how people become “red pilled.” 🧵

COVID deaths are NOT being overcounted. We're UNDERcounting. Still. My friend/colleague @jeremyfaust does a great job of analyzing the data & debunking this claim: insidemedicine.substack.com/p/data-snapsho… The REAL question is whether you/we think those deaths matter. And maybe you/we don't.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

Covid deaths are not being overcounted - if anything, they're being *undercounted*. In today's deep dive on the @MehdiHasanShow, I debunked Dr. Leana Wen's dangerous & fact-free op-ed in the Washington Post - her gift to the Covid deniers! Watch/share:

Yesterday in clinic we saw our one of our older patients living with HIV for 30 + years who just had their first great, great grandchild. Seriously, who would have dreamed that up 30 years ago.

@LudwigLin This is such an important point Most adults know when it’s time to have a conversation in private, or 1:1, because things are going off the rails Here, the intrinsic superficiality of the medium fuels conflict that we blame too often on folks with whom we could agree in 3D

@TimLaheyMD well, maybe one needs to factor in the need for publicity in some of these thought leaders. discussions that are best had within a professional forum are instead voiced via Twitter, where COVID deniers can latch on to that. So that's a problem

One prominent doc (@DrLeanaWen) says incidental COVID diagnoses cause overestimation of the "still unacceptably high" mortality of COVID-19 Another (@jeremyfaust) says we likely *miss* some deadly COVID consequences How can both be true?
