Looks like the enshittification actually goes the other way. People pointed out that PSN has always been this scummy, and Sony is now bringing the philosophy to Crunchyroll instead of the other way round. Is it our time now to ask, "Where was the outcry when this started?"
Does it play?@DoesItPlay1

Looks like the crunchyroll-isation of the PlayStation store has already begun. Not much of a deal, if they force you into a subscription before you get discounts. This is what the all-digital future looks like on PSN. More and more nudging to drain your wallets.

@32andW Grandia is one of the few games that I think looks completely better when rendered at higher resolutions in an emulator with no drawbacks. It also looks good at native, but unlike other games, it doesn't fall apart at high res. Amazing art.

One thing I love about Sega Saturn RPGs: how many different approaches developers took to rendering town exploration. • 2D sprites in a 3D world: Grandia • 3D characters over 2D backgrounds: Sekaihatsu Soccer RPG • Fully 2D: Lunar Eternal Blue • Fully 3D: Panzer Dragoon Saga

@G2ThaUNiT @MoonPieDreams it's okay for a young person to be ignorant on a subject, but if that's the case they should probably not make bold statements on said topic

@patmart100 Starfox Adventures, whether it was Starfox IP or Dinosaur Planet IP, is a shameless Ocarina of Time rip of from a gameplay perspective.

@TimNetwork Nintendo pushed the Star Fox IP on Rare and it's not a direct copy of any one Zelda game anyway, just a Zelda-like adventure game. That, and it does just suck as a game and I've criticized it before. Sega's game there is a shameless rip-off though.

Another entirely original product from Sega! ... On one hand, it would obviously be unfair to say that this is all they ever did, but the fact they were copying Nintendo so hard as late as 1991 is embarrassing. What other major dev did that?

Golden Axe Warrior is a 1991 Master System action-adventure from Sega. You play a warrior who must recover the nine crystals of Firewood, stolen by the giant Death Adder and hidden in nine labyrinths, to find the Golden Axe and crush him.

@RetroRGB Hey @RetroRGB ! Yes any USB cd/dvd drive will work as long as it gets enough juice! I'm working on all the cd cores atm MegaCD is running full speed and PSX still has microstutters, will get back to optimizing PSX after PCE CD.

@MeyerRants @HiTechLoLife1 they are proving the user experience for 3rd party manufacturers to get in on, that's my opinion. I don't think they want the massive overhead of a full on console killer hardware business themselves. They want Lenovo, Asus, etc. to do that work for them based on their template

@HiTechLoLife1 No, but the low sales indicate they're expecting low volume. Like for sure they're not selling less than they expected. But like... It's by no means any console killer or anything like that. It's fundamentally a low volume console from a company expecting to sell few.

@MeyerRants @aquilaqua I don't think this product is designed to be THE product to play steam on. it is the product designed as a template to be followed. They want to work with 3rd party manufacturers, they don't want to compete with them.

@aquilaqua Yes but this is still low volume for a company this size.

@MeyerRants you can't get them from valve right now, so it's possible they are releasing them slowly intentionally, but it seems like demand, at least as of this month, is greater than supply. We'll see how that changes as time goes on.

@ColumbusBitcoin No. The physical drive can read faster and cache data ahead of time, while the MiSTer core still receives sectors at the original console’s expected CD-ROM timing. This helps prevent stuttering without changing game speed.

Working on something cool. Its not full speed yet, there are some micro stutters, but I am very close. This will work on any USB CD/DVD drive as long as the MiSTer gives the drive enough power.

My Xbox 360 had crisp VGA output as well. It was a "deadend" in that it was a high-end analog display standard later replaced by newer digital display standards, just as ALL analog display standards used in this era were replaced. I agree the storage wasn't much of a leap. But the online capabilities, VMU, hall effect analog sticks, and then-cutting-edge graphical capabilities and featureset were all standouts. Sega's mistakes doesn't mean it wasn't a capable system with features that were groundbreaking for a very affordable console in the late 90s. Oh and Fear Effect (while neat) wasn't fully 3D, the backgrounds were all pre-rendered. So yeah, it would be more accurate to say Dreamcast was the first to have fully cel-shaded 3D environments or something along those lines, but it's a valid point. This isn't a jab at PS1 or N64 or any other consoles. Just pointing out that the Dreamcast was the first 6th gen console to market and thus was the first to bring with it advanced features and graphics. It doesn't excuse Sega's failures, chief among them their failure to secure MIL-CD support against piracy.
