The @PurpleLineMD is designed to run roughly 90% of its 16.2-mile route in its own dedicated ROW with 52 grade crossings. It will also be running the longest Light rail vehicle in the US at 142 feet long in mixed traffic for 1.4 miles on Wayne Avenue. #LightRailSafety #BikeDC

It looks like the newly renovated Freedom Plaza is getting even more new statues. The one on horseback was planned, but there are now a dozen more statues lining the northern and southern edges of the plaza.

People still think the DC suburbs are just highways and cul-de-sacs meanwhile Maryland is casually building massive rail tunnels like this 🤯🚇🔥 The @PurpleLineMD is going to completely change how the region moves around!

The west portal of the @PurpleLineMD Plymouth Tunnel. Located between Plymouth and Arliss Streets, at 2/10th of a mile in length it features a horseshoe-shaped profile measuring roughly 35.6 feet wide by 29 feet high. #bikeDC #PurpleLineMD #LightRailTunnel @purplelinenow

@inconspicuousLE @PurpleLineMD That intersection looks very problematic! Why would they build a right-turn slip-lane onto train tracks? The car will have speed and a blind spot to trains from the right.

@TimSloanDC @PurpleLineMD I live up the hill from the stop at 67th. It's just idiotic to go skidding off onto actual rail tracks. I thought this had something to do with the crossing itself. I imagine that such learning will have a big safety spillover for pedestrians

@SafeSidewalksDC @PurpleLineMD @WABADC @purplelinenow They are in denial; the trail has no where to land yet at the Silver Spring station. The new Metro entrance has to be completely finished for the trail to pass through on to the Georgia Ave bridge now completing.

@JarheadTop @PenguinSix The White House grounds and Lafayette Park are officially considered national park land. So, while we usually think of the White House as a residence and executive office, it structurally holds the administrative status of an official National Park.

@TimSloanDC @PenguinSix That stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue is not a National Park, neither is Lafayette Square. They’re managed by the NPS as a specialized administrative site.

The Piney Branch Pkwy closure for a month is to allow for the realignment of the roadway and trail to build the drop shaft. The Piney Branch Tunnel project is required by federal consent decree to improve water quality in Rock Creek and in the Potomac River. #BikeDC #CleanPotomac
