@RobertStock6 How exactly are normalized VAA and HAA leaking location? The whole point of normalization is to remove the locations aspect of it.

Why does this happen? Even if you don't let the model explicitly learn plate location, there are plenty of things I've found "leak" location information like release points, and normalized HAA/VAA. The "physics proxy" is a map of where the fastest and best accelerating FF are (using "within pitcher" data). Which means you would expect your stuff+ grades to show similar results.

One way I like to evaluate the "pureness" of my stuff+ model is on the location map of where good stuff is graded. The one I currently use for my site leaks location like crazy as evidenced from "Production Stuff+".

Fascinating situation here in Skubal's final arb year. Skubal is shooting to be the highest paid player in arbitration ever (beating Juan Soto's 31M). Detroit's offer puts them just below the highest for an arm (19.75 from David Price in 2015). Hard to see an outcome where Skubal's offer is the one that ends up being the one out of arbitration, unless the panel decides to shatter the record for highest raise given in arbitration set by Jacob deGrom (7.4) and make it a raise of 22 (10 -> 32). It is worth noting that deGrom went from 9.6m to 17m coming off a CY Young Season.
