@John18Hamilton @mlbbowman Ah yes, because it's impossible to think he could hit 2 more than his previous career high, since nobody in the history of the sport has ever had a career year.

@Voncheeze @grantcohn Idk if I agree about aiyuk not caring about money. He literally held out and refused to play without a contract. I think it's just proof how bad the character issues are. He couldn't even get his head out of his ass long enough to get his money by showing up to team activities

Although Robinson Jr was going to be cut these are completely different situations.....they traded for a quality starter (at the time) heading to the last year of his rookie contract (meaning cheap salary and cap number) so that they could get depth at RB since CMC was hit with madden curse the year prior and they didnt want another team to poach Robinson from them in the open market as Robinson wouldve not agreed to be a backup in SF at that time (since he was leaving as a starter) THIS SITUATION however is a player that is capable of starting on an NFL roster especially at the WR2 position.....only deal with him is attitude issues but thats easily resolved when you give him what he wants and thats playing with JD5 aka DAT KID aka THE TRUTH and we all know he dont want money because he let a shit ton of money go down the drain in SF just so he can go to thw open market aka go to DC on a cheap prove it deal (WR2-wise) and then play with his best friend in the whole wide world on sum power of friendship type shit Basically we are not giving them a pick for Brandon Aiyuk who is NOT on a rookie deal in fact hes in a astronomically expensive deal despite the guarantees being voided.....I think Washington would like to draft a brand new contract with THEIR terms for Aiyuk rather than adopt the current terms on Aiyuks SF contract.....in time, he will be a Commander

Last year, the 49ers traded a sixth round pick to Washington for Brian Robinson Jr. even though they were about to cut him. Now, the 49ers want Washington to trade a seventh round pick for Brandon Aiyuk even though they’re about to cut him.

@DOBrienATL Don't cut him. Publicly announce he'll never play on your major league team again and bury him in A ball. Maybe he cheats again and you don't have to pay him. Maybe he refuses to show up and you don't have to pay him. Don't make it easy for him, make it difficult

No one said they should or would cut him right now. You don’t need to do that until just before you’re to resume paying him in 2027, and then only if/when there’s a season.
Casey@JCopeDontCare

@DOBrienATL I’d be surprised if AA views the baggage as being more costly than the optionality is valuable. Cutting him now does nothing except guarantee $15mm of dead weight loss ahead of an uncertain labor market

@Aleaiactaest23 @MLBNetwork They put together a team that doesnt make sense, has multiple guys playing out of position, and has a weak rotation. Sure, they might be okay. But unless you're delusional, there's no way you look at them and think they're even better than the phillies, let alone a WS contender

@ChrisCoen18 @mlbbowman Were you really complaining about being 50k short of a top 5 payroll when the offseason is still going on? Oh, and McGuirk never said they WOULD have a top 5 payroll, he said they were capable of it. But you're misquoting him to make yourself look edgy. Explain that?

@mlbbowman Ask a legitimate question... They claimed (Mcguirk) that the Braves would have a top 5 payroll. Well #5 (Toronto) has currently spent $50,000 more than the Braves. Explain that?

@TheCaliGoober @BNightengale Lol exactly. That's the whole reason it hasn't yet, the MLBPA. The owners are going to have to give up something the players want, and I'm not sure what that reasonably is

Lucas Giolito, the top free agent starter left, has had a normal offseason program and trained at Cressey Sports. After Giolito raised his arm angle 7 starts into last year, from 49 to 53, he had a 2.51 ERA over the final 18 starts with a .620 OPS allowed and 24.4% whiff rate.

@realkeithtweets @jase1129 I will say this, Ronald is fully healthy with no injury in the back of his mind. I do think he goes nuclear this year. If he does, the rest of the lineup probably gets better. Starting pitching is another story though. We really do need at the very least a solid innings eater

Everybody wants to whine, “oh the Braves haven’t acquired a starting pitcher yet, boo hoo”!!! Nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the room. If the offense doesn’t produce more than last year it won’t matter anyway. Had the Braves simply won half of their 1 run games they

#Braves said entering offseason that bolstering their rotation would be a priority. They didn’t do that, and now would almost certainly have to overpay to add a suitable starter.

@ChoppinBravos @scottcoleman55 @Braves The fact that his average fastball velocity has dropped almost 3 mph since 2021 is really concerning for a guy that will probably get a 5/6 year deal. If it keeps dropping he's not going to keep being effective

@BigDinLA @SportsTalkATL We heavily drafted SS in the draft last year, plus there's some prospects in this draft as well. We don't want him to be a long term answer. That's why the deal makes sense

@SportsTalkATL I don’t love HSK at all. We still don’t have a long term solution at SS and he is not a significant improvement to Allen or Dubon at the plate. Braves are hoping tha his regression was purely injury based.

@OverdueSports @OPS_BASEBALL Vaughn grissom does NOT play elite defense lol. Part of the reason he never stuck with the Braves was because he wasn't good at SS or 2B. He's pretty bad at it

The Red Sox received Isaiah Jackson in the Vaughn Grissom trade. The 6’3/220 21-year-old slashed .310/.402/.630 with 18 HR and 14 SB, posting a 128 wRC+ in his final season at ASU. He tapped into his raw power and tightened up his swing decisions.

@anch1970 @weaver_cards Exactly. Allen would be relatively useless if they sign a SS, but Dubon has a lot of value. If he does upgrade SS otherwise, this is a brilliant move imo

Might be a pipe dream, but I think this move opens the door for a bigger SS move. AA should be more willing to take a chance on injury prone(Seager) or terrible defense(Bichette) knowing he has Dubon who is better than Nick Allen.

The #Braves today acquired INF Mauricio Dubón from the Houston Astros in exchange for INF Nick Allen:
