$KAS follows a unique monetary policy known as the chromatic phase, where block rewards are reduced geometrically over time, mimicking the frequencies of consecutive semitones in a musical scale. This policy was activated in November 2021, with an initial block reward set at 440 KAS, corresponding to the frequency of the musical note A4. Each month, the reward decreases by a factor of (1/2)^(1/12), which is the same ratio as the frequency change between two consecutive semitones in a tempered chromatic scale. This results in a halving of the reward annually, providing a controlled emission schedule for the cryptocurrency.

Proof of Work is built to be used. If no measures are being done to incentivize massive use on the base layer then it will fail. $KAS understands this and this why it’s spending its early days perfecting the base layer to enable the most possible amount of use on the base layer while keeping hardware requirements of nodes extremely cheap. This perfected base layer will speak for itself and incentivize more players to start building on $KAS to create a sustainable ecosystem with multitudes of use cases.
