No supieron ganar. No saben perder. Odiar a Argentina es una obligación moral.

Leandro Paredes should be banned from international football for life viciously assaulting Spanish players after the final whistle. Indefensible thuggery and criminality.

Disgusting behaviour by the Argentinians at the end, especially Paredes. Just a bunch of nasty violent thugs, and a disgrace to football. Never been so happy to see a team lose.

A cut above the rest. Spain are men's World Cup winners for the second time. Ferran Torres' fine strike in the second half of extra time earned them a 1-0 win over 10-man Argentina — and glory on football's grandest stage. Already European champions, Luis de la Fuente's side now rule the football world — much like they did during their golden era between 2008 and 2012. Lamine Yamal, who has only just turned 19, already has a World Cup and European championship to his name. Total control and rarely shaken off their stride — they only conceded one goal throughout the entire tournament — you wouldn't bet against this Spain side achieving more glory in the coming years.

Did they deserve to be in the final? No. Were they gracious in defeat? Also no. Were they at least easy to cheer for? Absolutely not. Did they finally get exposed when it mattered most? Thankfully, yes. Good riddance, Argentina. The most overrated, unlikable group of dudes we’ve seen at this World Cup.
