Filming has begun in Moscow for a movie about the world's first female cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova. "The Seagull" is a large-scale historical drama. ▪️ To more accurately convey the spirit of the time and the events that took place, the set designers recreated the Mission Control Center, the command post, the spacecraft, as well as all the interiors and locations where important events took place before and after the historic flight.

I’m at a farmer’s market and this coffee place offering Mexican chocolate is offering a Jaguar hot chocolate made with “home made jaguar milk”. Okay….

It seems "mohawk" is trending on X. Upon investigation, its all about hundreds of Mohawk haircuts, different colours and accessories. I myself wear an Anishnaabe hair style, its cool, flat and smells vaguely of otters.

@TheDHTaylor We met her in the TIFF showing of Aki. We were enthralled with the music she wrote that accompanied the images. We promised to get together again. Meeting her was a blessing.

Renowned Cree cellist Cris Dirksen passed away on the weekend. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with her a few times. She was amazing.

@TheDHTaylor Riel did not lose the fight. I heard about him in my teens when I was in the Philippines. He is still alive in my heart.

Today in 1885, the Battle of Batoche occurred. Metis lost that fight. Riel went to jail. Canada's troubled history of colonization took another step. Meanwhile, most of the country is currently rooting for a hockey team called Canadians. Including many Metis. History is funny

A placemat at the Cody Inn in Buckhorn, Ontario. I think an Indian princess died at Niagara Falls too, and a few other places. It seems like Ontario water and rock places are detrimental to members of the Indigenous Royal family. Especially the women.

@TheDHTaylor They whack purslane and call amaranth "pig weed" as they whack these off as well. That's from eating too much food in a box & burgers.

Yesterday at the farmer's market I saw several stalls selling Dandelion greens. This morning, I see a whole whack of people cutting their lawns wiping out lots of dandelions proudly growing. Confusing. Do people also do this with turnips and corn?

@TheDHTaylor Corn, beans and squash. A wonderful combination both under the ground and above the ground. The squash seems to get some salt from the soil and the combination is good as is. Except if my father has a say in it, he will insist on adding the squash leaves and some bagoòng.

Corn, beans and squash turn up at an archaeological site near Moose Jaw, Sask. Local cooks comment "it may need some salt".

When I start a new writing project, I find I'm telling myself two things. Either its going to turn out to be the worst thing I've ever written- good-bye career. Or it's sheer brilliance. The Nobel is assured. Then the reality becomes a table tennis match between the two.
