I cook some, do laundry, and when possible, a little writing. I repeat when necessary. Currently reside in the Chinatown section of Curve Lake First Nation.

Thinking of renaming my novel COLD, about 2 Native guys battling a Wendigo. Maybe if I gave it the more popular name of ANNISHPOP-Demon Hunters, it would find a new audience.

@EaglBig37862 Opus, a character in a comic strip called Bloom Country, had a similar supposition about life. "We're born. We go on some diets. We die."

Today is also World Storytelling Day. All cultures tell stories. EVERYBODY knows how to tell a story. Some just know how to tell it better than others. We are finite, but stories can and frequently do live for ever. Be immortal. Tell a story.

@TheDHTaylor I've been trying to think up some stories, but I keep being distracted by unimportant things like laundry...

Every time I'm in Toronto, like most people I am frustrated and annoyed by all the construction and noise. Now they're tearing up the streets of Curve Lake, putting in water mains. I'm running out of places to find peace and quiet.

Today in 1885, Louis Riel returns to Canada, proclaims provisional government in Saskatchewan, with problematic results for him. Paraphrasing Shakespeare, he was told "beware the ire of Macdonald".

According to legend, today in 1325 Tenochtitlan -capital of the Aztec Empire- is founded on an island in what was then Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico. The island eventually grew into Mexico City. I think of this when I see islands full of cottagers in Buckhorn Lake.

Watching the launch of Curve Lake First Nation’s newest water vehicle creation, fresh off the assembly line. We call it the CANOE Mark 12. Imagine that baby gathering wild rice!

Today in 1649, Gabriel Lallemant, French Jesuit missionary, one of the Canadian Martyrs, tortured and killed by Iroquois. You would think the French would know better than to show up, unannounced, at a BYOB without their own bottle.

It looks like West Coast artist Andy Everson, who did the cover of my sci fi book, may be becoming the next Banksy (you may have to research that name).

One of the "problems" with being an Indigenous writer is the simple fact you can have the whole Indigenous community breathing down your neck, willing to let you know what they think of what you wrote. Here, no writer is an island. Instead, we are a very opinionated continent.

Local carvings found at a Dominican tourist shop. Methinks the carver had more on his mind than just wood.
