don't think my ADHD medication is working for me. i don't feel anymore focused or able to think functionally, the only thing it's ever done for me is give me intense nightmares and extreme exhaustion for the next 2-3 days after i forget to take it even once

@crystarius I’m so sorry. I hope you can find something that works for you soon. The med merry-go-round is such a pain. :(

after i take it, within a few minutes i feel slightly disoriented, actually. i thought maybe i had to get used to it but this will be month 3 with no change... such a shame. i'm not excited to deal with weaning myself off of it, those nights are going to be ROUGH

Not all of course, i have a bunch of good friends. But sometimes i read "Stepparent's aren't real parents" type stuff and i feel deeply unwelcome

I really wish adopteetwt wasn't so hostile to step/poly/otherwise non-nuclear families. They are not the same as plenary adoption and can be perfectly loving. I know from lived experience

@juneinapril I try to use “adopted person” as much as I can, but I also gauge to who I’m speaking, and if it’s necessary, say “adoptee.” I figure language is fluid and we’ll eventually move away from the latter (though likely not in my lifetime).

What is happening to Palestinian children and civilians in Gaza must stop. It is immoral and inhumane. My heart continues to break as I see images of dead bodies and hear of horrific attacks leading to destruction and death. The mass loss of life is appalling. As my dad, #MartinLutherKing, said, “Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.” The continual destruction of human life is a descending spiral. We need leadership with the mind and courage to discover a humane and nonviolent pathway to bring the hostages home without destroying more lives. #CeaseFireNow

Ten years ago today, Michael Brown, Jr., a young Black man, was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Michael’s senseless death ignited national outrage and drew long overdue attention to the disproportionate impact of police violence on Black Americans. Ten laters later, Black Americans continue to bear the brunt of police violence and are almost three times more likely to be shot and killed by police than white Americans. It’s past time for Congress to take action and pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, an important step forward in stopping police brutality and gun violence.
