The Pope may well be correct in his opposition to the Iran War specifically but to say “God does not bless any conflict,” when past Popes commanded the crusades and deemed martyrdom in them as penance for sin, is just an obviously ahistorical statement. The Vatican should try to avoid sounding like some hippie NGO on these issues.
