This guy opposed the from day one, has participated in opposition politics, ended up having to flee the country, and probably cannot go back safely so long as Putin is in power. I think he's allowed to whine a little bit.
5G Reptilian Surfing on Chemtrails@5G_Reptilian

The typical "anti war" ruSSian. They're the biggest victims of everything. So oppressed. These whiny idiots are just as pathetic and despicable as Putin's supporters. Here's a well-known one, going on yet another whining rant. Deport them ALL back. Let them rot in their country.

Very few people know this but when I was running the social media for the RNC I looked up numbers that the QAnon idiots thought were somehow important, and I would specifically schedule posts for those times. No one ever caught on but I thought it was funny

@Schilted @owenjonesjourno They should have scrapped the triple lock instead. It sank them either way, this way they would have at least achieved something worthwhile in their self immolation

Rachel Reeves thought she was being soooooo clever when she scrapped the universal winter fuel payment. She thought the electorate would see it as showing Labour was prepared to make tough choices. But the British public were rightly repulsed, and she helped sink her government

From taking our party from the worst defeat in modern history, @Keir_Starmer turned it around and delivered a landslide majority just four years later.

„Luftwaffe“ is literally just the Translation of „air force“. I’m pretty sure the Austrian air force has the same name. The analogy is more like if the 1. Panzerdivision would be renamed as „Totenkopf“. Mind you this would be literally illegal as using the symbols of national socialism is forbidden by law. @grok expand on the analogy I make here and how the controversial name is very unlike e.g. „Luftwaffe“.

@TitusFrieling @Tatarigami_UA German airforce is still called the Luftwaffe, despite it being an instrument of Nazi atrocities- and we’ve no problems with that, since neither the air force, the people, the govt aren’t Nazis Can you comprehend this?

President Zelensky took a step backed by the entire nation, including ex-presidents. Poland’s internal political struggles under Nawrocki should not come at the expense of Ukraine-Poland relations amid Ukraine’s struggle against a common threat which poses threat to both states
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

Yesterday, the President of Poland noted that the Order of the White Eagle is not an ordinary award. It is a symbol of the highest trust of the Republic of Poland. It signifies a special bond with the Polish state and the special gratitude of the Polish People. Such a symbol requires not only merit, but also respect for the values that form the foundation of our community. Therefore, if it is considered that this special symbol may remain with Catherine II, Benito Mussolini, and Gerhard Schröder, then we in Ukraine will not argue with that. Ukraine is grateful to the Polish People for their support and cooperation, which play a significant role in the struggle for our and your independence from Russia. Ukraine never forgets solidarity and understands that cooperation between states and peoples in our region is one of the tangible security guarantees for Ukrainians and for each neighboring state. Ukraine will continue to defend itself in this war unleashed by Russia, and we will undoubtedly achieve a dignified peace. Ukraine is grateful to all peoples, states, and leaders who will continue to stand with us in the defense of freedom and who, together with Ukraine, will serve as guarantors of postwar peace in Europe and a new, real security. Ukraine will remain open to all meaningful formats of engagement with Poland in order to try to avoid conflicting interpretations of the difficult and painful chapters of our shared past and to ensure proper respect for all innocent victims of the 20th century. And Ukrainians are doing everything in our power to ensure that Europe does not suffer defeat in this century. I am proud of our people and of EVERY Ukrainian warrior – of the millions of Ukrainian men and women who deserve unquestionable respect for the heroism the Ukrainian People have shown in defending themselves against Russian aggression. We believed that the Order of the White Eagle, awarded in 2023, was meant for the Ukrainian People and our army. That is what was said at the time. Today, I sent the Order back to the President of Poland. I believe the future will confirm the respect Ukrainians deserve. Glory to Ukraine!

@gwynedd8364 @yuanyi_z I for instance didn’t know that „Ethiopian“ was a distinct sub-ethnicity, I recalled that the majority ethnicity had a different name

My lukewarm take on geographical renaming is that you get to dictate what your place is called in English if you use English as an official language. So the Indians get a pass with Kolkata, but none of the Türkiye nonsense.

@illnevercallitx I would like to see the math on this. We won’t really have time to accumulate reserves to enjoy returns given the demographic outlook. I think we mostly missed the window of opportunity

@MesoAnglic The saving grace is twofold. 1) Germany is much richer than both of those!! Stagnation at higher lvl obvs better vs lower lvl 2) there is a huge amount of scope for supply side reforms which are expensive in political capital terms but fiscally neutral or even contractionary.

Germany really is the sick man of Europe. It was doing fine until COVID, and then it completely collapsed and crashed in on itself since then. Honestly a much worse situation than JP 1990s-now or UK 2007-now

People outside Ukraine might not grasp the significance of Poroshenko and Kuchma following Zelensky in returning the Order of White Eagle. Essentially, it’s a remarkable display of political unity. Maybe even unprecedented one.

@gwynedd8364 @yuanyi_z I think that shift is also because Burmese are an ethnicity and there are several minority ethnicities in Myanmar. In the same vein actually calling Thailand Siam again would in a sense be better as „Thai“ is also an ethnic group

@yuanyi_z Strange new front in the culture wars. Myanmar is rarely called Burma any more, and that’s a change we’ve seen in the last ten years. Turkiye would have okay. I think it’s insisting on Türkiye with the umlaut that is a bit much for anyone using the Latin alphabet.

I know some people where this kind of thing has turned into basically a vacation home for family reunions. With a very high income family they even have permanent staff so it’s more like a bed and breakfast, the ones with normal incomes just do the work themselves. In India the „family holiday hotel“ concept would be much easier to make work given the high income inequality

Across rural India are large homes built by upwardly mobile patriarchs who intended them to be "forever homes" not just for themselves but for subsequent generations. A generation or two later, they're sold or boarded up.

@justalexoki @AlexanderRodd But isn’t the fact that you spend time on actually aligning on the tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines quite valuable in and of itself? Like, in a sense that is the more important part of most meetings than the actual content of what is said.
