The TMathC organization has been deeply reflective and we are committed to doing better. We failed that this week. We are committed to creating safe, welcoming environments for all. We will do better. tmathc.com/2019/02/11/rec…

@TmathC So this was a trial run for equity? A toe in the water if you will?
English

Why didn't you count their equity statements toward their proposal scores? Is this another #KidsDeserveIt where we only mean certain students?

To continue with our attempt at greater transparency this year, here's a post about our process for reviewing proposals for #TMC19. Please use it as an entry point for further conversations. TMC Proposals Explained: tmathc.com/2019/02/04/tmc…

@SchleiderJustin Some of the sessions we accepted were strong in the 3 areas we looked at but had subpar equity statements. We accepted those sessions, letting them know they needed to improve their equity statement for future submissions.
English

@TmathC I hear you saying you did not reject any proposals that had equity statements that were subpar. You told them if they submit next year they would have to improve their statement correct?
English

@SchleiderJustin Wait a moment - let me clarify the yes. We did reject some proposals that had subpar equity statements. But they had other issues as well.
English

@MrKisselMATH Thanks. I had the thought to update and had gotten sidetracked.
English

@TmathC I just clicked on your profile this morning and noticed you are still promoting tmc18 in your bio! Thought you might want to switch it to tmc19:)

.@DingleTeach has resigned her position on the TMathC Board. She has been instrumental in broadening our reach and understanding, particularly around equity and diversity. We are grateful for her contributions and hope to continue the work she has begun.

@mathin2ition @stoodle No sessions were rejected solely due to their equity statement. We don’t have the capacity to provide individual feedback on all submissions but we did want to let people know if their equity statement could use work and will have a blog post up soon.

@stoodle coast2coast.me/carl/2016/09/1… was referenced in the application. There is a blog post in the works.
