**No, there is no credible evidence from official investigations supporting that federal agents (undercover FBI employees) were encouraging or forcefully pushing people into the Capitol on January 6, 2021.**
The DOJ Inspector General's report (Review of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Activities Related to the January 6, 2021, Events) examined this directly:
- No undercover FBI employees were in the crowds or at the Capitol.
- 26 FBI confidential human sources (informants/CHSs) were in D.C.; 4 entered the Capitol and others entered restricted areas.
- None were authorized by the FBI to enter restricted areas, break the law, or encourage illegal acts. The report states explicitly: "none of these FBI CHSs was authorized by the FBI to enter the Capitol or a restricted area or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6."
Claims of systematic "entrapment" or "fed-surrection" by agents have not been substantiated in these probes or congressional reviews. Individual videos (e.g., Ray Epps) have fueled speculation, but Epps and similar figures were not federal agents or directed informants per FBI statements and court records. FBI Director Wray and the IG have consistently found no evidence of orchestration.
Intelligence and security lapses existed on all sides, but the specific claim lacks primary-source backing.

We all saw video of capital police waving people into the building. You think those citizens should go to prison for entering a public building when the “guards” let them enter? The number of FBI paid “assets” involved in the breaking of windows and doors was not zero. The prosecution hid this information about “paid informants” in violation of Brady and also prosecuted people under a legal theory struck down by the courts. “Covid shutdown” doesn’t help. People are entitled to disbelieve the “insurrection” propaganda.

Even after having defended 91 J6 defendants it still bothers me when posters with zero understanding of that day make claims like this.
On Jan. 6, 2021, the U.S. Capitol was still operating under the COVID-era closures.
It was not open to the public for any reason.
No visitors -- and that had nothing to do with Jan. 6.
It was close on Jan. 5 and it was closed on Jan. 7.
Only staff, members, and authorized press were inside -- same had been true for months.

The US Capitol is a public building. To close the building during normal business hours requires notifying the public. This didn’t happen.

It still drives me crazy how easy it would have been to convict Trump in 2021. He committed a bunch of easy to prove felonies, with a SCOTUS case on point to cut off a 1a defense. Could have easily gotten a year in prison.

Full disclosure. I beg any of you people who keep calling me violent, and an insurrectionist to find one picture of me violent. I’ll even give you some money from the fund. 😊
I wasn’t violent. I entered the Capitol to escape the chaos outside. I spoke calmly with multiple officers inside and left peacefully on my own.
They charged me with 4 misdemeanors and threatened me with RICO. I pled to “parading” and signed a deal for probation and a fine. Two weeks later, while my son was in the ICU (and they knew this by the way) they changed it to: 2 weeks in federal prison, 3 years probation, a fine, 50 hours community service, a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation, and mandatory drug testing.
All for parading. All to crush me.
Law enforcement officers and lawyers have told me I was severely overcharged. People who were screaming, disrupting Senate hearings, and breaking into chambers got summary offenses far less than what I received.
We deserve case-by-case justice, not being lumped together. What happened to many of us was wrong.
