Always an honour to be asked to conduct the reading at this ceremony. A special mention to Mr Kelly for organising and Mr Devey for the tech.

Really enjoyed delivering this today. Highlighted the value of live marking in challenging am students to do better and even included some interviews with students about why they like their work being marked.

At some point I’ll get some pics of this up, but the trip was an amazing success. Big credit to @ToomerTeach for getting it going. The visit to the students great, great grandad was really touching. All the students scrambled to help find it. 10/10 trip.

In year 7 we study William the conqueror ‘s character to assess the fate of Harold I. One source we use is from William of Jumieges. Today I discovered Jumieges abbey, where William lived and worked and found a delightful little town too. A small world. Ft. Molly.

Struggling to come up with a strong enquiry question about Stuart England that doesn’t look at the English Civil War (separate SoL). Any help is massively appreciated.

Some students aid the previous “default” approach of chunked flow diagrams wasn’t as useful for them. So Instead, and building some literacy into the class room, they got this sheet. This is my copy. Reading, q&a with me writing their words, then a task at the end using textbooks

Then, after some advice from @ToomerTeach I took a bit of a risk and asked my Y11s what they prefer in lesson so I can help to boost their engagement. Some interesting insights into what the students think about what I believe they worked well with.

Tried some new things today. First up was bringing high level scholarship into an a-level lesson by explaining the conspiracy around the Reichstag fire. We talked through an article by Richard Evans on the topic.

I’ll take these home and work out how best to use this ahead of a couple of important weeks pre-mocks.
