That’s what it all comes down to — consistency. This rule has been applied so inconsistently over the years, which is what leads to so much frustration and confusion from the fans and competitors. And a rule like this, which is supposedly in the interest of safety, it should be ruled the same on lap 50 as it is on the final lap.

@STaranto92 @NASCAR2000s @jeff_gluck When the precedent in these situations has consistently shifted and changed, sometimes within the same season, over that 23-year stretch, I feel it is very fair for fans to question this rule, which can impact a driver’s day by 20+ points.

@NASCAR2000s @jeff_gluck It's been 23 years and a lot of current NASCAR officials weren't around/in their positions when this happened. Taking them to task for that isn't really fair. And yes, it was a total Immaculate Reception "We can't penalize Dale Jr because the fans would riot if we did" situation

On NASCAR's "Hauler Talk" podcast, Mike Forde says it doesn't matter that Bubba Wallace didn't actually complete a pass while below the double yellow lines; it's the attempt to improve his position that was the foul. Forde: "If he did go below the yellow lines and eventually improved (his position) and he did that to improve it and he wouldn't have gotten to where he did without going below the yellow lines, that's really what matters here in this case. He doesn't actually have to make the pass while under the double painted line." Also says the SMT data didn't matter about Wallace attempting to give the spot back after going below the double yellow line because there are no give-backs with this rule.

@TobyChristie Notice how Toby thinks this is his space and his space only. That’s bc he’s controlled it for so many years; he and his Nascar cabal, constantly controlling the narrative. Those days are ending, Toby.

The worst thing X ever did was allow this anonymous guy to verify his account. He spews nothing but conspiracy theories and is getting paid to do so by Elon. 🤣 And the sad thing is that his conspiracy theories are never even compelling or even somewhat believable. #NASCAR

If you don't like this finish, don't bother watching. Top-tier stuff. Nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat action. #NASCAR

BLANEY KICKS PEACHES IN ATLANTA While the draft is the great equalizer, nobody had anything for Ryan Blaney at EchoPark Speedway. With his second win of the season, Blaney is now in the fight for the regular-season title. Erik Jones hangs onto the final slot in the top-16, as he holds a slim 8-point lead over Joey Logano with six races left until the Chase. Here is the updated #NASCAR Cup Series Chase Grid after Atlanta.

And with that win, Ryan Blaney is now within 65 points of the #NASCAR Cup Series regular-season championship lead. This could very well be a three-man race we have shaping up...

@TobyChristie Every replay they showed on TV I was trying to see how he could've possibly avoided the 19, was surprised the broadcast never noticed that or looked at his in car

Chase Elliott ended up with a 13th-place finish on Monday morning at EchoPark Speedway, but judging by his view of Kyle Larson's crash, which sent the race to overtime... things could have been much worse for the driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet. He threaded that needle. #NASCAR

From the TNT camera looking straight at the front of Blaney's car, it does look like something is sticking out right around where the right front wheel is. #NASCAR

Blaney tells his team that he went to the top lane because he thought he felt something break. Says whatever is wrong is probably in the wheels. #NASCAR
