@Pullthepocket I flattered myself that I was able to recruit Mine that Bird for the WV Derby by intuiting their fear of R.A. moving forward. More likely, though, the horse had developed serious issues.

@DailyRacingForm Beyer numbers have always been and will always be flawed! Beat a bad field and get a high Beyer. Lose to a good field and get a lower Beyer. They want you to believe a Belterra Park Beyer and a Churchill Downs Beyer are equivalent. If you believe that, well, good luck.

Golden Tempo earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure winning the 2026 Kentucky Derby.

@thedungeon2025 I used to let Rich Perloff have it when he was on TVG… we argued for a whole year once about Beyers. I kept giving him real-time examples when he was on air and wanting viewer interaction, but he’d swear it was all an anomaly and I was wrong. Serling is a bum too. 🤓

@thedungeon2025 He was the best horse. Had the exacta a few times. Had the double a few times. Only used 3 horses (Golden Tempo/Renegade/Danon Bourbon). I’m an anti-Beyer guy. Always have been, always will be. I’m all about trip and competition from prior races. Your take on Beyers?

@atTheTrack7 Then his conditions change, he runs his same race, gets beat several lengths and his Beyer plummets. Conditions change again, finds a weak field and his Beyer rises. I’ve watched this for 30+ years. I know your stance on Beyers. You may not be wrong, but neither am I! 🤓

@atTheTrack7 of them to throw him completely out. I’ve been around racehorses daily for 30+ years now. I’ve taken care of fast horses and slow horses both. My friend has a horse right now in Ohio that has won 4 races. Every win - his Beyer jumps up. Every win - he’s beaten slow fields.

Commandment and Emerging Market both made premature moves in my opinion as I watch the replay back.
