Happy Kentucky Derby Day to all!!!!! Yesterday wasn’t our day, Zany lost the Oaks and we lost 3 others races That’s racing. Today….is another day. 7 horses in. 4 in stakes. And the favorite in the @KentuckyDerby with Renegade. We all dream about the Winners Circle. But being here with my 80-year-old plus parents Benny the Waiter and Annie the seamstress, my wife Maria, my daughter Gioia, my brother Gerard, my family and closest friends……….. This is The Real Winners Circle. In the race of life, we’re all lucky we have one. Love and cherish those people the most. ♥️ 🙏 Everyone have a great day with your own Winner’s Circle. LFG!!!!! 🐎💪

Thank you, Dan Wolken!!!!! Two powerful articles this week and both hit exactly where this industry needs to be challenged. The first broke down the wagering mess and the impact of CAW bettors on everyday horseplayers. The second (below) dives into our 3-year fight to push for REAL, transformational change not just to grow the game, but to save it and make it relevant again. And what did many of the so called “senior leaders” of the entities that control racing do this week??? They HID. They avoided the very mainstream media that can force accountability and shine a light on the truth. We’re running toward the fire. They’re running from the fire they created!!!! Yesterday’s Commissioner “State of the Union” press conference??? A HUGE step forward in getting the message out to the mainstream. Where’s Waldo (Repole)??? LFG!!!!! 🐎💪

Excited to be going to the barn early tomorrow morning checking in on Zany, Renegade, and some of our other stakes stars. At 8:30 AM outside Todd Pletcher’s barn……… I may deliver a full “State of the Union” on horse racing, talk Zany, Renegade, the Louisville Kings or I may just talk to the horses. 😂🐎 Unlike most of the industry “leaders” and entities who aren’t transparent or are poorly scripted you’ll get real, genuine, unfiltered takes on horse racing and the industry. When I started the National Thoroughbred Alliance (NTA) and immediately brought on @PatCummingsNTA, the mission was clear: Get people in this sport to speak up, be vocal, and engage, even in debate, so we can unite for what actually matters…the Thoroughbred. From day one, our top priority has been aftercare. Pat has been relentless, working with passionate, hardworking people across the entire ecosystem. What we uncovered along the way was eye-opening: Too many of the major entities in this sport, including government-appointed ones are not solely focused on what’s best for the Thoroughbred, but instead on self-serving metrics and optics. That has to change. This week, we saw a step in the right direction: Sales companies and breeding farms have come together to mandate funding from buyers, sellers, and stallions. That’s progress. Pat developed and presented a very similar framework back in summer 2024. While we believe the contributions should be higher, we credit those groups for finally stepping up. It took 2 years. It shouldn’t have. But it’s a start, and the right direction. As we dug deeper into aftercare, one reality hit hard: The number of U.S. horses being sent to slaughter in Mexico and Canada is rising again. That is unacceptable. What’s even more frustrating??? The amount of money spent in this sport on certain agendas, when just a fraction of that directed toward ending slaughter could save thousands of horses. It is clear that too many industry entities have talked the talk and not have walked the walk. The NTA is self-funded, and in just a few months, we’ve made real progress in Washington, D.C. Now we need more voices. Below is a must-watch, powerful and sobering message from Pat on how you can help raise awareness and push the SAFE Act over the finish line. Let’s stop talking. Let’s act. Couple of notes related to breaking from the rail in the Derby, in light of ML favorite Renegade drawing PP No. 1 Saturday...

I wouldn’t trade places with anyone heading into this Kentucky Derby. I’ll take Todd Pletcher, Irad Ortiz Jr., and the best horse in the race Renegade from the 1 post every time. Is it ideal??? No. But I’ll take the 1 post over 15–20 post all day with Renegade’s closing style and explosive late kick. He’ll save plenty of ground while others are running extra distance. You can get trouble from anywhere but being that far outside could cost him 7–10 lengths. And don’t forget, since 2021 with the new starting gate, the inside posts are positioned better than before. If Renegade is who we think he is, the 1 post won’t matter. No excuses. Some people say I have bad luck at Kentucky Derby. 0 for 8 plus 3 scratches. 2 of them favorites. 🤦‍♂️😂 I see it differently, I’m blessed. Blessed to have these opportunities. Blessed to have the Derby favorite with Renegade. Blessed to have Oaks favorite with Zany. Great luck to all the connections in both the Derby and the Oaks!!!!! LFG!!!!! ♥️🙏

Thank you @theTDN Writers’ Room for the open and honest discussion about the state of our industry. Even with the potential favorites in both the Kentucky Derby and Oaks with Renegade and Zany, my #1 priority is leading the charge to reverse the sad, negative, and dismal trends across every metric in this sport. I’ve been on this crusade for 3.5 years, and we’re closer than ever. Thanks to the relentless work of @PatCummingsNTA and many others, the momentum is real. The path to transformational change is there. Now it comes down to this: Will certain entities finally give up their self-serving control and open the door to real leadership… Or will we force those doors open ourselves??? No more talk.
