Thrilled to share our new pre-print manuscript! We investigated how the cells "remember" inducible activation of gene expression and how this memory is epigenetically inherited through multiple cell divisions as transcriptional memory. Thread below. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

A Caenorhabditis elegans embryo highlighting repressed chromatin in the nucleus by immunostaining against histone H3 lysine 9 dimethylation, the hallmark of heterochromatin. Imaging was undertaken with a STED microscope by @Toby_Buttress, a postdoc in the Ahringer lab.

Check out this amazing story from my PhD lab @JohnInnesCentre showing plant sperm compaction via chromatin #phaseseparation - by a histone variant #H2B8! I’m so happy for @Toby_Buttress , @ShengboHe, Shaoli Zhou, @XiaoqiFeng_m, and everyone else involved. Huge congratulations!

How flowering plants compact their sperm? Our new paper published @Nature shows that a histone variant condenses plant sperm chromatin via phase separation. Thanks @Toby_Buttress @ShengboHe Liang Wang, Shaoli Zhou, Pilong Li and all involved! nature.com/articles/s4158…
