This is me during my Shell Recruitment Day in November 2011. 1hr after the whole day group interview, I got the phone call I can never forget, “Congratulations, they all loved you. When can you start?” If you have an upcoming group interview where they put a bunch of you together in a room and give you a task to work on together, then sit up. I will tell you my secrets. I don’t need them anymore and it can help you land your dream job. They are what I used during my SRD. I have given the same playbook to many mentees who used them to land their dream jobs in various companies. So, trust me, this works. A 🧵

A lot of people say they don't owe anyone anything but i cannot say the same for myself. Too many hands have lifted me. A lot of people held it down for me and made sacrifices to make sure i had mu head above water. So many hands were there to support me when i had my back up against the wall. All i can wish for is to be able to return the favour when the time comes.

Some of you avoid your friends when you don’t have money because it feels humiliating. Some of you cut off your friends when they don’t have money. Even if you can’t help your friend’s situation, they don’t have to carry the burden alone. “I don’t have N500k to give you, but we gather dey. For documentation purpose, they might not be able to rely on just a call from complainant, why not advise the complainant to walk in to the branch and document that he has been refunded. Yesterday, my brother’s wife gave birth to quadruplets four healthy boys! What makes the story even crazier is that throughout the pregnancy, every scan kept showing only twins. Nobody had any idea there were two extra babies hiding in there! I had to rush from Enugu to Port Harcourt yesterday because my brother was literally feeling the labour pains more than his wife. When I arrived, I met the strongest man in our family crying like a baby. And when the doctor said she would have to deliver via C-section, he nearly fainted😂 Thank God everything went well in the end. After all the drama, we were blessed with four beautiful boys. I’m officially a quadruplets uncle now!

Dear Nigerian men, All your lives, you've been lied to. Fertility issues aren't gender specific. Men do have biological clocks. The quality of your sperm peaks at 30, subtle decline in your 30s & significnt decline in your 40s. Your sperm can cause pregnancy complications 🙏

When we were growing up, we made plans with our friends. We wanted to be successful and we wanted our friends to be successful as well. But the reality is that our clock is different. We would not all be successful and even the ones that are successful, succeed at different times. The beauty of friendship is that, if one of us succeed, we have a measure of protection to leverage on. I do not know what you people call friendship but a person that want friends must show himself friendly, and there are friends closer than a brother. This idea of making it and suddenly blacklisting the people you used to call friends, is insane. If they were not good people, you would have cut them off before you made it. The only person changing here is you. It would be a shame if my friends need help and they can't ask me. Why am I in their lives then? What is the point of being friends for 10, 15, 20 years and I can't come through for you. I come through for strangers. Why wouldn't I show up for my own? My friends know me and they trust me. In fact, I'm sure they know that God forbid they die, their kids education and welfare will be sorted as I would my own kids. Making new friends is good. We connect and expand on the relationships we have as we grow in life. If you keep cutting off the people you used to know as soon as you climb up the ladder, why should the new friends and connections trust you? The higher you climb, the harder it is to trust. That is why people say it is lonely at the top. People are not stupid, they are vetting your character whether you know it or not. I have friends I made from secondary school. I have close friends from university who are my brothers. I have friends from my time in the UK and we are very close. I've made friends from X whom I am close with. Current relationship does not erase past relationship. Your new friends have other friends. There is nothing happening in your life currently that warrants cutting off your friends just because you're doing better. If you're doing better, you have a responsibility to look after them and be kind to them. Your friends are the only people in this cold world who allow you to be yours and who can call you to order, while still having your back against all odds. DO BETTER!!!

I lost my mom 24 hours ago and for the past day, I’ve heard and said “God knows best” more times than I can count. And yes, I believe that. I truly do. But honestly, my heart is heavy. Because I wish she stayed longer. I wish I had more time, more conversations, more moments I didn’t even know would one day mean everything. Like, those stories she use to repeat every time, like she’s never said them. They reminders to not rush to be rich. Choice of friends and type of woman. Grief is a strange place to be, holding on to faith, yet feeling the deep ache of loss at the same time. But Hallelujah.

Before I knew it, he filled a withdrawal slip and told me to debit his account for the 75k. I was speechless and I didn’t even know how to thank him. He told me it was nothing that he knows how risky the job was. I debited him and I was finally balanced. Since that day, I never recorded any shortage till my IT was over. David made my stay memorable and fun, he was like my mentor and he helped me with o many transactions. My first work experience was when I did IT at a bank (name withheld), the staffs were very nice and accommodating. The first day of resumption, I was asked to understudy an IT student too, she already used 4months on the job so she knew about it so well. We were both tellers (cash and transfer units). I understudied her for two days, so the third day, my direct boss asked me to collect cash. It all went well and I was enjoying the moment. The chills of customers looking at me as a young and smart girl made me happy. After we closed for customers, we al started to balance for the day. After I did all the calculations from my end, I noticed I was short of 75k. I became very scared and I was terrified to tell my direct boss, she noticed I didn’t bring my remaining cash to her for the final balance, then I told her I was short of 75k. She yelled at me and got very mad that what was I thinking that she warned me to be extra careful while dealing with the customers. We tried to trace where the shortage came from, I debited everyone I was meant to debit so that means I overpaid customer or I was short paid. She told me to look for the money cos she wasn’t going to help me with anything that I was meant to be careful. I started crying and I didn’t know what to do or who to call. Then one of our bosses, although he was the atm custodian but he was a boss to me. He was very nice to me the first day I resumed work. He saw me crying and asked me what happened, I narrated what happened to him so he told me to calm down and stop crying.
