@Karmaviolet12 Exactly my thoughts. I’m a teacher and am forever asking poorly kids why they have come to school when they are clearly struggling. 100% attendance shouldn’t be prized the way it is.

@tombennett71 How was the question phrased? I fully support good attendance at school - my children have consistently managed 95-98% attendance. But it’s not essential to attend every single day - taking time off for illness, or a one-off special event, is also important.

‘1 in 4 parents now think it’s fine for children to skip school’ is something you hope to never read. Lockdown broke the habit of attendance for many- lots of institutions have seen numbers decrease because of it, like churches. Schools need to work hard to get them back. But parents have a huge role here.

Was chatting recently to a friend. We were talking about school memories. She found it hilarious that I wanted to find my A-level psychology teacher to thank her. But in all seriousness I do!

I never even heard of this woman before they got engaged. The only reason she’s getting any of those deals is because of the Royal family. Not even sure why that agency decided to even work with her… 🙄

@MsGHist Got paid for AS marking today, just starting on A2. Rates of pay much better this year.

Can someone remind me next year not to do exam marking....

@MsGHist Put the money towards something frivolous- I got a great outdoor corner sofa set which I love. The money’s bad, and the turnaround is backbreaking but it was the best CPD as HofD! Keep going 💪

@WhistleblowingT Do what you love! I love teaching Psychology. Lots of Psych teachers also have to/wish to teach a second subject.

@PepsMccrea We have a Psychology joke/meme of the week on a notice board. It’s always terrible but the students enjoy it. And I’ll use daft anecdotes/mnemonics to aim memory.
