@Karmaviolet12 Exactly my thoughts. I’m a teacher and am forever asking poorly kids why they have come to school when they are clearly struggling. 100% attendance shouldn’t be prized the way it is.

@tombennett71 How was the question phrased? I fully support good attendance at school - my children have consistently managed 95-98% attendance. But it’s not essential to attend every single day - taking time off for illness, or a one-off special event, is also important.

‘1 in 4 parents now think it’s fine for children to skip school’ is something you hope to never read. Lockdown broke the habit of attendance for many- lots of institutions have seen numbers decrease because of it, like churches. Schools need to work hard to get them back. But parents have a huge role here.

Was chatting recently to a friend. We were talking about school memories. She found it hilarious that I wanted to find my A-level psychology teacher to thank her. But in all seriousness I do!

Poppy has now finished her a-levels and is moving on to an apprenticeship later this year. She has also raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity that supported her with counselling. You can read more about her remarkable story here bbc.co.uk/news/uk-662048… 4/4

18 months ago @AlisonHoltBBC and I went to meet a remarkable teenager called Poppy. She wanted to tell the story about how she is overcoming having been sexually abused by her grandfather. 1/4

“Meghan Markle has been advised to ditch Prince Harry to “save her career” and must act now if she wants to recover what is left of her working life, one insider has claimed.” Am I missing something? I never even heard of this woman before they got engaged. The only reason she’s getting any of those deals is because of the Royal family. Not even sure why that agency decided to even work with her… 🙄

@MsGHist Put the money towards something frivolous- I got a great outdoor corner sofa set which I love. The money’s bad, and the turnaround is backbreaking but it was the best CPD as HofD! Keep going 💪

@PepsMccrea We have a Psychology joke/meme of the week on a notice board. It’s always terrible but the students enjoy it. And I’ll use daft anecdotes/mnemonics to aim memory.
