Real blockchain is for Free Financial Innovation. Corpochains will try thru regulation to bar that, and they’ll fail. Go Starknet, Near, Zcash, Ethereum, Bitcoin.

I am seeing takes like this nearly every day from people who don't seem to know that Robinhood is an Ethereum L2. If they didn't care about existing chains etc. they would just be an L1, so they *do* care That being said, there is a kernel of truth here, and it's why the L2 roadmap was smart--given that there is lots of incentive to start a corpochain, it makes sense to give a path to that still being at least somehow connected up and driving *some* value to Ethereum. That's at least theoretically better than it just being a 100% competitive L1 the roadmap was just very poorly executed so that it's mostly -EV to ETH & leaves the L2s with too much optionality to become L1s, no real lock-in. . . could've been great though, in many ways the thesis is being proven out, but we ETH holders accrue almost no value from being right
