I’ve been deep in designing a card game system and currently using a UML tool to map out core mechanics, card interactions, and engine flow. It’s been helpful for structure—but I’m starting to feel like I’m missing something more robust for actually brainstorming cards, archetypes, and deck concepts. For those of you who design card games (TCGs, deckbuilders, roguelike cards, etc.): 👉 What tools do you use to ideate and organize card concepts? 👉 Anything that helped you go from “system design” → “fun, cohesive decks”? #GameDev #IndieDev #CardGame #TCG #GameDesign #DeckBuilding #IndieGameDev #GamedevCommunity #TabletopDesign #RoguelikeDev #SystemsDesign #DesignProcess

🏝️ Restore Your Island | UE5 Indie Game for Steam
I remember how disappointed I felt when I wrote this. A lot of you gave me hope back then and I never forgot it. Today, Restore Your Island has over 80K wishlists and launches in two weeks. And Escape By Spoon just finished its first week with 8K wishlists. Thanks for Everything

I expected to get 5,000 wishlists in the first week, but at best, I reached 420 wishlists. I don’t know whether to be happy or sad. Everyone tells me it’s a great number for the first week, but since it’s not even close to my expectations, I’m feeling a bit discouraged. #indiedev

@TokiGamesLLC @onlypancak3s_ I hardly interact much with X but I’m actually buying this game too, obviously inspired by Slay the Spire and I love that game.

I got monetized 14 days ago. Made $1,000 from Shorts. I'm spending all of it buying indie games. Drop your Steam links below. I'll buy as many as I can until the $1,000 runs out.

I’m making a video game solo right now and I have to remind myself of the following: The number of wishlists I have is not tied to my self worth. The game is not for everyone, some will love it, others will hate it and that’s okay. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Burnout is the biggest danger of not finishing. Community and fan enthusiasm are big motivating factors in keeping up with development. It’s important to stay engaged What do you tell yourself to help you stay sane? #gamedev #indiedev

Gius Caminiti | Tower Factory OUT NOW! ⚔
Player feedback is one of the most valuable things you can have as an indie gamedev, but it is also one of the hardest things to interpret. How and when do you know whether you should listen to it and when you should not? For a long time now, one of the main complaints about my game has been the difficulty. I have adjusted it a lot over the past year, and it can probably still be adjusted further. Still, my vision for the game, and the design behind many of its systems, is for it to be challenging. Now I have reached the hard part: some players complain that it is too difficult, others say it is too easy, and even in posts where people ask me to make it easier, there are many others asking me not to change it because they like the current difficulty and feel it is part of what makes the game stand out in the genre. So the real challenge is... where do you go from here? It is definitely part of the job as a developer, but it is not always easy to know when to say “the game is fine like this” and ignore the few negative reviews and comments that are hard to deal with. So yes, player feedback is incredibly valuable, but having judgment, knowing how to interpret it, and deciding how to act on it is just as important!

Unexpected side effect of launching a game: The bots are fucking wild. I get dozens of emails from scammers trying to get free keys that they can turn around and sell. This is some of the most bizzare shit I've ever seen:
