@mort_cygne The doubt is normal at this stage but the output is already real.

I decided to make my own game! I made some concepts, drew the first few locations, basic animations for NPCs,portraits, movement animation, built basic game's system. I don't think I can finish this alone - thats a lot of time already spent and more to go, but I'll try! #gamedev

We performed three rounds of bug fixes and content updates in five days, and it's looking much better now. If you have any further questions, feel free to join our Discord to give feedback. It has now risen to "Very Positive" reviews!

@AdventIslands The Spring Sale timing is perfect for a game like this...

jet fighters are live in the demo! Heavily inspired by C&C generals, with runway taxiing, takeoff and landing. This is an initial version with unlimited fuel and no cooldown, it will get finalized soon.
The nice thing about planes is that there is no pathfinding headaches. Only an avoidance simulation that is active when the plane reaches its flight level. The trick is to give a small radius to the agent, to keep the flight continuous, otherwise planes look like they are breaking mid-air

Today I overcooked the rope system for my indie game and got a freakin' cool rope system lol.
Can be bent, attached to anything, pull objects, be cut, and is physical so it interacts with anything.
I have a lot of ideas of how i can use it 😈

@RayEpsilon Smart engineering and a meaningful update for players with modest hardware...

Tens of thousands of physics-based enemies, now running on Steam Deck, in our indie game There Are Millions of Goblins.
Using the 3D Neighbor grid setup for inter-particle collisions, I realised I'm able to detect the concentration of enemies at any given location. Turns out I could increase gpu performance by about 300%, by not rendering any goblins that are obscured by a horde layer above them.
Still work to be done. We can make it even better - but this is an exciting step, and hopefully encouraging for players that worry their hardware couldn't handle it!

The solo developer of Tangy TD has made over $250k in just one week after 4 long years of hard work making this fun game... expressing tears of joy on stream. Let's keep upping these numbers!
With non-existent marketing, gamers are discovering this game through word of mouth alone and gaining more and more players as the days go on.
Players are discovering that the game's core tower defense gameplay is unique, with an interesting take on an old game mechanic, with rougelite, and skill progression systems. The main complaint that people have is that it doesn't have enough content, and they want to play more!! Which is the best kind of criticism one can get that the players want to keep playing more of the game.
Meanwhile, other "indie" games like 1348 Ex Voto's player base has collapsed with less than 50 players right now, despite having a team of 15, and is universally hated by gamers everywhere.

Gamedev tip:
1. You're tired or burned out
2. Take a break
3. Exactly 3 seconds later new game idea comes to mind
4. "I'd love to work on it"
5. Realise you have free will
6. Start working on that new idea
7. Get it done in a week
8. Come back to the other game well rested
9. "Oh yeah I wanted to take a break, well, I'm not tired anymore so I'll keep working"
It's all in your head people. Anyway I got like 5 games coming up
(Yes I know step 7 sounds crazy but I believe in you)

@ThisIsDarkDax The effort required is real but so is the reward when it clicks.

A feeling many indie game developers dream of. The amount of work, effort and dedication it takes is beyond what we all initially imagine.
Sadly, not every game or dev will reach this feat, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
Work on a game you love, and the rest is a bonus.
