@PaulBaier People should listen closer to what Chomsky’s trying to say. A lot of non experts throwing up their arms over his article. He is one the thought architects leading to where AI/NLP is today. I’d listen more closely before criticizing. This reminds me of the crypto myopia.

@DrSergioCastro @raphaelmilliere @nytimes Demonstratedly wrong would convey that there’s evidence you can demonstrate that would be convincing. That’s obviously not the case. Maybe give it a couple years and let’s have this conversation then.

For a start I'm not sure the melodramatic tone serves the argument: "machine learning will degrade our science and debase our ethics", and "we can only laugh or cry at [LLM's] popularity"! I know op-eds are often editorialized for dramatic effect, but maybe this is a bit much? 2/

@ClayReedMD The trouble with CHATGPT3 is it will give a very convincing answer because of its design. The potential for increasing the misinformation that is already prevalent is a greater threat to healthcare than its potential benefit IMO

@ClayReedMD My point exactly. You can’t trust the accuracy of its statements 😂. The threshold for accuracy even for administrative tasks is harder to achieve than most anticipate.

@Farzad_MD By stating inflation data for 2022 you imply annual inflationary changes. This graph does not capture this well because it indexes change to the year 2000. Your conclusion that hospital cost is out of control is correct, but the growth rate is greater for other costs in 2022

The accuracy of the device is unlikely to reach a level where individuals could or should feel confident in administering insulin. This distinction is important. The diabetic community might feel let down otherwise.
