Here's a strange study of the #ICH cohort from the Spanish RACE-CAT trial which randomized severe stroke patients to CSCs vs the least PSC. Pts transferred to the CSCs did worse. They got there 40 minutes later, and had a bit more hematoma expansion, yet both groups had comparable ICH volumes at 24 hrs. The outcome difference was driven by much higher 90-d mortality in the CSC group (49% vs 38%). Incredibly DNR and WLST rates are not reported. Maybe CSC neurointensivists are better at listening to patients (and their families) and providing compassionate EOL care when asked to do so? jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…
