Thank you @beatED for giving me the opportunity to share my story as a man with Anorexia. It was an absolute honour to speak to #ChristopherEccleston about our experiences. The more we talk, the more people will understand and break these stigmas! #eatingdisorders #BBCLifeline

@OonaHanson @OpenMindMH That's shocking! If the young person can be supported and receive treatment at home is far better than having to move miles away.

@OpenMindMH @TomRebair Ironically (at least in the US) many families who are willing and able to do FBT are told to back off and to send their child away for treatment instead.

'When you come forward with an ED, you need an immediate pathway to recovery, not 'here, we'll put you on a waiting list for two years'. Hope your family can support you in the meantime.🤷‍♀️' @TomRebair makes a good point, why do services rely on families to keep people alive?

There is an issue affecting the national 999 call system. BT is working to resolve this issue as soon as possible but, in the meantime, if you are unable to contact 999 in a medical emergency, please call 111 who will redirect your call.

The lack of understanding around Autism is huge. I've had a lot of experience with this. Putting more training into schools, would be a huge step forward to reduce this issue. Please sign
Dr Carrie Grant MBE (hc) 💙@CarrieGrant1

When @Hollyoaks put on 2 days autism training for all staff it made all the difference. More training than any teacher Ty had ever had. We need more training in schools. #SEND #Autism please sign Paula’s petition. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6390…

This was happening 15 years ago when I was held down in a general paediatric ward and no staff member there knew anything about anorexia. How is this still being allowed to happen NOW??
Rebecca Thomas@Rebeccasmt

Children with eating disorders – who often need to be restrained to be fed through tubes – are among those being routinely put on general wards. It means staff without any specialist training, including security guards, are sometimes left to restrain these young patients.

When being assessed in an eating disorders medical emergency I’ve sometimes said “I find it hard to stay here but I really want to- just letting you know that I’ll try to leave but it’s not what I want”. 99% of the time I’ve been told “well, we can’t force you to stay” 1/

@emily4993 I couldn't agree anymore! 👏 Also the fact that it's such a 'postcode lottery'. As I've always had fantastic service and I'm very grateful but at same time more upset and frustrated at lack of support in other areas
