Love how the photos from the League 1 title will always look like Robins has stepped away from preparing a tray of sarnies to pose with the trophy

Been quietly waiting for a classic retro t-shirt channeling this sort of thing since we secured the title. How about it @Coventry_City? #pusb

“Owner Doug King’s choice is very simple - either spend £100m like Sunderland or nothing like Burnley. The outcome would likely be the same as it is for those two teams this season,” Keys said.

@ricardo_chambo Fascinating. And in hindsight totally figures!! This is partly why I’m so intrigued by the Spurs situation.
English

Something I found interesting when researching my book on Cov 2001-08 was as a club we seemed to have very little knowledge of the (as it was then) First Division, its teams and the way they played. Lots of post-match interviews about being caught off-guard by teams. It was like we often just turned up expecting to win.
English

Obviously love this, but also keep thinking if you told me in 2001 it would be a TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR wait to return to the PL, I would’ve been beyond devastated.
Worst case scenario for me back then would’ve been 2, maybe 3 years in the 2nd tier?
It’s truly a mad story.

@ricardo_chambo Same. I was 14, found the idea of Cov not being in the PL inconceivable and just assumed that’s how it works.
English

@Tom_FA I was supremely confident in 2001 that we would go straight back up. Not just that, I expected to walk the league. In hindsight, I was 15 and a little naive but still - 25 years is absolute madness.
English

@mikeseat Yep. It really felt at times like a phoenix club was the only way to save and reclaim our club. When Wasps bought the Ricoh I really felt like we were consigned to L1/L2 (or worse) for a generation or more. I’m still pinching myself that we are where we are.
English

@Tom_FA In the moment it was awful. I'll never forget the feeling of absolute loss, I guess is the word, as I stood in the concourse at six fields for the one game I managed to stomach there. But with the benefit of hindsight- wow. So much better feeling this now as a result
English

@mikeseat 100%. I don’t think my connection to the club would be anywhere near as strong. It helps that I know the ending, because the lows were grim and it wasn’t inevitable that we’d ever bounce back.
English

@Tom_FA If you were told you could have the last 25 years again, or do the 1-2 seasons down and bounce back up straight away, which are you choosing?
Despite all the pain along the way- this only feels so special because of all the carnage. So I'm taking the former I think.
English

@TheSkyBlueHub @Coventry_PUSB @TheScottKeene Think he’s got potential to be #1 but it’s a big ask to step up to the PL after a year out. He’s only played 30 games in the Championship. I could see logic in loaning him out and bringing in another more experienced backup keeper
English

Seeing a lot of chat about who stays/goes next season and I can’t believe how many fans are willing to cut Ben Wilson loose.
You have a ready-made 3rd-choice keeper who knows and loves the club and is by all accounts great in the dressing room. Of course he stays.

In all the excitement you almost forget that we’ve only owned the CBS for 8 months. Last summer Doug King was still talking about building a new stadium.
The turnaround in our fortunes is a joke.

CHAMPIONS.

Love how this narrative that we were on the verge of relegation when Lampard took over is exaggerated more each time it’s repeated.
We were 9 points off the play offs 😂

THE FRUITFULVINE@FRUITFULVINE2
Frank Lampard took over Coventry on the verge of being relegated to league one. Transformd them, won the Skybet championship, brought them to premier league after 20+ years. Better than what Michael Cashew is currently doing with old glory FC.
English

@CCFCAnalysis I mean, we’re getting into oddly granular detail here but he was appointed on 24/11. Literally none of this matters now though and, as you said, the point remains!
English

@CCFCAnalysis 24 November 2014, we were 17th on 17 points, WBA were 6th on 26 points?
