@AaronLaw92 The value in this scheme was in the north. And that’s not happening. There’s a world outside London. And commuting habits have changed. Passenger numbers are yet to rebound to pre-covid levels despite population increases

@CCFCAnalysis The busiest line in the country, the West Coast Mainline. You cannot add any more trains, hence why one problem knocks out the entire route. London to Birmingham, Leeds and beyond was absolutely critical. Unlocks East and West in the north alongside the ongoing TPE upgrades.

@AaronLaw92 They’re not even fast! Of all the infrastructure projects we could possibly spend >100 billion on, taking > 35 years, I know let’s build another line from Euston to Birmingham

@CCFCAnalysis Again, I urge you to look into the whole point. You don't want stopping services on fast trains, it frees up paths on existing lines to expand services for freight and passengers. I can't keep replying with this unfortunately.

@AaronLaw92 So many…….It literally stops in 2 stations in London and 2 in Birmingham. Or more sensibly that could have been 5 extensive local schemes in cities that really need it

@CCFCAnalysis And it was still over budget and late and has delivered over the estimates with millions of people using it. HS2 unlocks so many other opportunities for local transport which is the whole point of it.

@AaronLaw92 Elizabethan Line cost circa 20billion. 20% of the cost. Of course we need infrastructure and investment. But not at any cost.

@CCFCAnalysis I repeat - capital borrowing against future revenue. That is how we build things such as the Elizabeth line which has absolutely smashed estimates.

Southampton off to Wembley. With their parachute payments and one song.

@louorns If Boro get promoted without a goalkeeper and striker, and with Morgan Whittaker playing every game, it’ll be remarkable Sol Brynn giving me kittens

There is no better example of VAR causing a decline in Premier League officiating than this Southampton v Boro match. Premier League referee Andy Madley in charge and without a VAR safety net he has been absolutely rotten.

Great watch this. Super high tempo. Ref doing a pretty good job in just about keeping a lid on at without killing the flow of the game. Lively atmosphere too, albeit spoiled by #SaintsFC ridiculous music when they score Hopefully #Mboro can get it done.

Arguments against technology in football put to bed. An incident which has biggest impact ever on PL title and relegation. Firstly - ball over the line. Ref’s watch alerts. Then, despite the magnitude, VAR reaches correct decision. In the olden days… #whufc #thfc #afc #mcfc

Fairly happy with my Championship 1-24 this year. Leicester, Hull and Wrexham were bad but I wasn’t really going against the grain with those predictions. Five exact placements and 50% hit rate on the hot takes - Millwall 3rd was bang on, less said about Boro 19th the better 😂

CAN'T CATCH COV. COMPLETED. "I mean we've bombed the league, right?" Congratulations anybody who said 84 would be the number required to secure promotion. You win.

@ExpectedBham Blues are effectively a parachute team with budget. Limited manager and poor recruitment the issue. To have a net spend >€50mill over two seasons, and not have a single player of interest to clubs higher up the chain tells all

@CCFCAnalysis The complete opposite to Blues, which needs to change next season. It's going to be interesting to see Cov next season. Whether you become more "pragmatic", esp away from home. Or lean into what's made you successful. A potential blueprint for non-parachute promoted teams!
