Bowker's pricing model is completely ridiculous and predatory. I only need two more ISBNs but they offer single purchases at almost $100 more per than buying in bulk. These are not physical goods. There is no reason for this

Okay… So, I’m a white man, but my surname is Black (a fairly common name in Northern Ireland). I write and edit gothic horror and dark fantasy novels, where the colour black unsurprisingly features regularly. All part of the dark and foreboding vibe that underpins stories in these genres. I give my thoughts as a developmental editor on clients’ manuscripts. So, I thought Black Thoughts was quite an appropriate and harmless name for my company. Until a now ex client said they thought it could be construed as racist to be a white man with such a company name. They ended their arrangement with me, still owing me money, and unfollowed and blocked me across all their socials. Am i overthinking this? Did they over react? Or do they have a point? All thoughts welcome please but any inappropriate comments will be muted. Thank you.

I posted this elsewhere a couple weeks ago, but figured I'd share it here too. I'm handwriting the first lines of Wraith and the Revolution (which is on sale right now, by the way. I'll put those details in the comments.)

Dialogue beats need to be on the same line as the dialogue Anna grabbed her cloak. “Let’s go.” If they are not on the same line, then you don’t know who is speaking. Worse still, it can indicate that the wrong person is speaking. Example🧵

What's a writing practice or tactic that works amazingly for YOU but you probably wouldn't recommend? I finish drafting a book and then set it aside for months (sometimes years) before coming back to it for revisions. Time away helps me see issues I would otherwise miss.
