On my @LBC show last night, NHS nurse Elliot with £100,000 in student debt - who says he’d have to be earning £80,000 a year just to keep pace with the interest he owes. He accrued extra interest during the pandemic because he took time out of studying to help with the Covid response. And Kieran, a young solicitor who calculated that he’ll have to pay a total of £250,000 on a initial loan of less than £30,000 because the interest keeps going up and up. He pays back £3,500 a year, of which £3,200 is just interest. But his wealthier friends don’t pay a penny because their parents just paid their uni fees for them outright. “Fair”, @RachelReevesMP? In what world?

@HMRCcustomers I've reviewed your calculations put together and compared it to the government calculator, the refund amount given is £380, the other calculation makes it £688. I would just like to provide this evidence to appeal it.

@Tom_Simonds92 The refund will have been calculated based on the figures supplied by the employer. Have you checked the P800 calculation for any discrepancies? Thanks, Anas

@HMRCcustomers Hi, I have today recieved confirmation of my tax being overpaid but the amount is less than the gov.uk website indicates I should be due. I would like to appeal this providing evidence from this calculator.

You have also said I have underpaid this year. I'm not sure how you would have established this for the current tax year when it's taken 8 months to work out I've overpaid 🤔

Israeli soldiers were caught on video raping a Palestinian captive last year, causing severe internal injuries. No one disputes the rape happened. Since then: - The Israeli military has launched a criminal probe into the *leaking* of the video. - Defence minister Israel Katz has called the video's *leaking* a "blood libel"against the Israeli military. - Israel's top military law officer has been forced on leave after suspicions that staff in her office *leaked* the video. Haaretz reports that the rapist soldiers, identified from the video, "are currently not in custody or under any legal restrictions".
