as a Jordan fan it pains me to concede this, but assuming a relatively healthy career, Wemby is going down as the GOAT.

@Statholesports You should adjust this for minutes played. Every NBA player could score 30+ at least a few times with more minutes

While we're getting weird with it here are the top outlier high scores in NBA history based on that player's average and SD. Normality be damned, we're having some fun here. Mario West!!!

Bam Adebeyo's 83-points was 8.5 standard deviations above his average. This is so large it breaks data floating point precision limits in returning an exact statistical probability of occurring. I'm led to believe this is a 1 in 166 quadrillion chance

"The Count of Monte Cristo" (2026). There is a new, 8-part miniseries of this classic now on PBS Streaming. Have not started it yet, but it stars Sam Claflin and Jeremy Irons (as Abbé Faria). I have high hopes. This great novel needs an extended treatment.

Recently picked up Arabian Crypto, co-authored by @charlesdhaussy. It’s a collection of perspectives, history and experience from people building in the region and gives a good sense of why the UAE has become a major hub for Web3. I worked with Charles at dYdX and he’s one of the most thoughtful and nicest people in the industry. Highly recommend buying this book it's worth the read.

1. Ty for open sourcing the algo. @nikitabier. Underrated but unprecedented in social media. 2. A neat/insightful next step would be an “observer mode” where you could type in ppl’s @ and see their news feed. I think it will both expose users to new views and allow users to see why ppl with differing beliefs believe those things.

Peter Thiel's 2020 intro of The Sovereign Individual, originally published in 1997, on what it got wrong: "And of course, there are some things they missed: above all, the rise of China. The twenty-first-century People's Republic of China under the Communist Party has created its very own version of the Information Age with decidedly nationalist, ethnically homogenous, profoundly statist characteristics. This is probably the single biggest "megapolitical” development since the book came out. In truth, the great conflict over our megapolitical future is only just beginning. On the dimension of technology, the conflict has two poles: Al and crypto. Artificial Intelligence holds out the prospect of finally solving what economists call the "calculation problem": Al could theoretically make it possible to centrally control an entire economy. It is no coincidence that Al is the favorite technology of the Communist Party of China. Strong cryptography, at the other pole, holds out the prospect of a decentralized and individualized world. If Al is communist, crypto is libertarian." Full intro in screenshots
