SPARTAN V1 IS COMING
Too long, Spartans have trained in the shadows of alpha. That era ends.
The week of Angular v22, spartan/ui marches out of alpha.
2,500+ of you have taken up the shield on GitHub. It's time to forge it in bronze.
Thanks to @zeropsio for getting us here!

🚀 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟐 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬: 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 will be 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭
@angular keeps pushing more problems from runtime → compile time.
With Angular 22, type checking for host bindings will be enabled by default, helping developers catch issues earlier and ship more reliable applications.
👉 What changes?
🛡️ 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭
Host bindings are now checked automatically during compilation.
🐛 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Issues that previously slipped into runtime can now be caught during build time.
🧠 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞
Templates and bindings behave more predictably.
📉 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠
Fewer “why is this not updating?” moments in production.
This is part of Angular’s bigger direction:
less guessing, stronger compiler guarantees, and safer applications by default. 🔥

@brandontroberts Yeah Im curious too, I managed to build and serve a really big, complex project with oxc, had some problems so I opened up couple of issues and made some local patches - but to my surprise it just worked! I think this is going to be the mainstream way to build large projects

@biondifabio @angular Nice 👍 Can we somehow debounce the requests?
English

A simple snippet to add a custom Async Validator in @angular Signal Forms (v.21) using the new “validateHttp” function:
1️⃣ Every time the user types, the “request” function invokes the endpoint (cancelling pending reqs)
2️⃣ The "errors" function validate the response
Love it ❤️

@Nartc1410 @Jean__Meche It does, but he said it’s tricky so I shared my opinion.. @Jean__Meche what is the trick here then?
English

#Angular Trick question.
Do you know what your getting in the array returned by the viewChildren signal ?

English

@TomerMeirov @Jean__Meche why shouldn’t it exist in the first place? imagine a template var in a for loop?
English

@Jean__Meche Nice, I made a minimal StackBlitz for it:

English

It’s a prototype and very much a work in progress
But yes, you can start experimenting with Signal forms with today’s pre-release 21.0.0-next.2

Okay, here's the challenge from yesterday's live stream!
Here we have a dual input for currency, which does the conversion. Changing on input should update the other, and vice versa.
Try to solve it with the current #Angular signal tools, and if you get it without effects, you'll get a special shout-out 😂

Docs has been updated with default values and more accurate example!
Thanks @Jean__Meche

We also found a "bug" in the docs, which states the opposite
