If you're interested: 165,000m3 LNG Carrier 80,000t DWT 271.6m LBP Twin Screw with MEGI Engines at 27000kW. As yet unnamed, likely it's going to be a pun though.

Sometimes I sit down and 8 hours pass without me even noticing. Some good progress on the current design project though.

@elteuavio @absolute_phil @smartereveryday To my eye this is a better concept, it remains absolutely unproven. I would not consider either of those installations significant. A small trawler and a ship belonging to a theatre company(?), it will be more interesting if the concept can be trialed on a larger bulk cargo ship.

Do you think it will again become economically viable to make large scale sailboats commerce? Think of what fuel free sailing speeds we could achieve by harvesting the wind with newer technologies like composites, new fabrics, better ropes or even solar sails powering a propeller

@absolute_phil @smartereveryday Also what a weird picture in that article, a container ship with no containers onboard, dry bulk hatches, and no funnel stack! The graphic artists at Michelin have done a number on that poor hull!

@absolute_phil @smartereveryday On paper they look great, in reality I suspect there are problems. Likely such devices would have a large CapEx, would only be useful in limited circumstance, otherwise a hindrance. Not to mention the human element, Crew training for operation and maintenance are a big issue.

@smartereveryday Efforts towards decarbonisation of the industry are largely focussed on alternative fuels, stopgaps such as LPG LNG and methanol are the current apple of shipping companies eyes.

@smartereveryday Wow my area of expertise! Industry is very unlikely to return to the age of sail. Many operational, engineering and fiscal factors make it pretty much unfeasible. Unfortunately the wind does not go where you want it to most of the time!

@hapticdata @PlotterTweeter I have a custom plotter which runs GRBL, gcode is generated using Lightburn and sent using gcode sender.

I was thinking about concentric circles today and ended up doing a short study. They're a little hard to look at in person, slightly varying the spacing and thickness of the circles makes a pretty trippy effect. #plottertwitter #creativecoding #generative

I keep coming back to noise fields. They're so simple but there's so many permutations to explore. Turns out 27,000 lines looks like a wave washed beach. #plottertwitter #creativecoding

@sumerfish That's an interesting way to use seeding, if I do it at all it's with a random seed for debugging, which I remove before final generation. Inputting sprites is for sure cheating though😅

What's #plottertwitter 's opinion on seeding drawings? Personally I think I like unseeded; harder to get a consistent aesthetic output, but I like that it captures the computer noise at the moment of generation.
